I'd recommend the Lost Dog to anyone who has never eaten there, but especially out of towners who are looking for something memorable and different. The place is really unique and eclectic inside and the food is fresh and delicious. The menu is unique and the French press coffee is great. The rigatoni ala vodka is delicious and probably their most popular dish. The mambo chocolate love dessert is fantastic. Service is very good, too. If you go for dinner on a Friday or Saturday, it's always busy so call ahead and get there ASAP. Lunch during the week isn't terribly busy, so we've never had a problem getting seated promptly.
Unlike the other reviewers I did not eat here. Had intentions to. Decided to pass. Went here to meet friends who were in town. I had to asked to be waited on at the bar. Mind you that is with three bartenders working and empty sets at the bar. Of course one I got one to actually wait one me they acted like I was interrupting them and it was a chore. That swayed my decision to not dine there. The entire experience was a joke. I travel a lot and this place ranks as one of the worst for customer service. Had two drinks and that was only because I couldn't handle the lack of service. For the second drink a different bartender managed to crawl over to me. He had zero enthusiasm. Shame on them for preferring to wait on the teenagers there to find someone to go home (we were there a few hours and not one person was carded, they obviously stay in business thanks to the underage crowd) because I was with a group that could have spent a pretty penny there. Instead they won't ever see a dime of our money again.
Excellent healthy food served up by super nice staff. Have been here a number of times when visiting my daughter at school and always found it to be well worth the short drive from campus.
Stopped at the LDC Labor Day weekend at the recommendation of our daughter a Binghamton Univ. student. It was a Saturday about 130 and it was a little busy but only a few minutes wait for 3 of us. It has a nice atmosphere. The waitstaff was very efficient and the food was fresh and delicious. Didn't see a parking lot so had to use meter.
The offerings here are excellent across the board. Diverse menu all well executed. Full bar service, and a full array of cafe coffee drinks. The coffee offerings are surprisingly inexpensive! Other offerings average in price. We were highly pleased with the friendly service as well. You should go here.
I've dinned here numerous times over the years and never had a bad meal! The funky eclectic decor, sassy staff and interesting menu, make this a great place! The new cocktail lounge also adds to the funky vibe!
Our hotel recommended this restaurant. The joint was jumping! Food and service were very good. Very farm to table and trendy vibe.
We found this spot on trip advisor as a place to stop and eat on our drive to Naples, NY. The decor and lighting are a bit dark but the menu had good selection. My husband had the Greek chicken and I had the balsamic asparagus chicken sandwich and both meals were very good and their coffee was also very good! We would go again if ever in the area.
Hip restaurant in Binghamton NY. In an area that desperately needs some bright spots this place shines. Nice vibe and good food.
Six of us stopped here for lunch on our way from Manhattan to Toronto as it was about half-way, and because we wanted some non-chain food. Success! The sandwiches were made with high quality ingredients, the fries weren't greasy, the side salad had a nice variety of vegetables, the deep fried cheesecake was good, and the "good PMS" (peanut butter mexican sundae) was devoured by two girls. The mocha was...okay.
We enjoyed good sandwiches and fries. I loved the sweet potato fries. We parked in the garage diagonally across the street. It was free, which was good because the town was busy with a "fest." The cafe was busy too, but we were seated right away. Erika was a very good server. For some reason our simple sandwich plates came out slowly. We were there an hour altogether. Others were lingering over coffee an dessert. Maybe it's better suited to leisurely folks rather than those just passing through town, like us.
We had lunch here with our kids on a weekday during a road trip to Canada. They don't take reservations but they do offer 15 minute "call ahead" service where you can put your name in. We did this and were seated upon arrival. Parking is difficult on the street - the Lost Dog Cafe will validate parking for the garage located katty corner from the cafe. It was busy when we arrived and took a bit of time to be greeted. Once our orders were taken, drinks were quickly delivered to us. The food was very good. Kids had chicken fingers and fries which they really enjoyed. My husband had the Mediterranean shrimp salad which was fantastic - nice amount of shrimp, great variety of fresh greens with vegetables. He asked for it dry - no dressing - and he said the flavors were really great. I had the chicken curry dish which was very flavorful, lots of chicken chunks, fresh mango and various vegetables. Nicely done. The cafe has a lot of character with interesting photos on the walls, friendly servers and nice experience all around!
Sweet potato fires, regular fries i like them both. the brie chicken sandwich is great! and all the pastas! the atmosphere is unique and fun. it is loud inside so dont go and think you are going to be able to have a in depth conversation, but i suggest going!
There was a long wait, but it was worth the wait! Since this was our first time here, we didn't realize there was anywhere to wait until they pointed us to the back where there is a very large lounge/bar and great place to wait. I just love the vibe of the restaurant and the fact that they use locally sourced ingredients and offer healthy options on the menu. I had the Mahi-Mahi special and it was the most amazing Mahi-Mahi I ever had - better than Hawaii! Certainly not what I was expecting while visiting Binghamton, but this place is a hidden gem! I can't wait to go back and visit our son at school again so that I can go back to the Lost Dog Cafe!! I wish we had a place like this on Long Island!
