My family loves to go to Apple Hills to pick berries & apples. On a nice fall day there is nothing better than to go apple picking & top it off with a nice cup of hot apple cider & fresh made cinnamon donuts. We go there whenever we can. Great for young & old allike.
I had their signature sandwich, apple slices, ham, mayo, honey mustard and Swiss cheese. Atmosphere = homey. Service = excellent,
I went to this place a few times because it was close to work. However, just could not stomach the attitude or service of the staff. It is a nice location, but terrible staff.
We spent the morning picking apples on the beautiful property know as Apple Hill. My 8 year old son wasn't excited about going but once he got there, and saw the beautiful crop of apples, he was all in. We picked over 40 pounds of the best tasting apples around for a price that can't be beat. Then we went down to the gift shop and bought some delicious donuts cider and then went to explore the other offerings at the farm. There are a few animals that you can feed (for a very small fee), a free haunted barn, and some other activities for the kids. We had a great time just sitting back, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the wonderful atmosphere of the farm while our son played in the hay.We didn't feel like this place was trying to "nickel and dime us" for every last cent. Not only was it a great day at the farm but the apple sauce and fresh pies we made from the amazing apples made the whole trip worthwhile.
I visited Apple Hills with a friend. We picked apples and had lunch at their cafe. The staff was friendly. The food was delicious. Will definitely go back.
Fun to wander thru the hills and sample wares. Lots of family friendly ranches and events. Great time of year in the foothills.
This is kind of a throw back from days gone by. A family operation that has been synonymous with apples, apple picking and cider for a few generations in Broome County. It's pure genius to put a restaurant and country store here, since they have a built in traffic flow already. The restaurant is clean with a busy open kitchen area, reasonable prices and a nice menu. If the weather is suitable, the meal can even be more enjoyable outside on their covered porch.
We went here for a family gathering. we were a party of 11 and tried to call to make reservations the day before and the morning of the visit but got only a taped message about the hours . No one picks up the phone and there is no way even to leave a message. We had to wait half hour for a table . The wait staff was nice and the food OK. But there were plenty of flies in the place and the washroom was filthy. (does the health dept ever visit this place?)However what destroyed our visit was the rude owner. There is no handicapped parking in the place. I had to drive a little close to the berry fields to pick up my husband who walks with a walker. As I was driving to the regular parking lot to meet other members of the family, I was stopped by a man on a tractor who insisted that I was trying to drive away without paying for the berries. I asked him if really believed that after paying over a hundred dollars in food, twenty five dollars in tips and purchase of various items in the gift shop, I was trying to steal five dollars worth of his berries. He insisted that that is exactly what I was doing. I do not understand what his problem is, perhaps he suffers from some mental illness. I feel bad for the staff who have to work for this deranged person!
The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great! The fields are so full of fresh produce, and the store always has great items from bulk goods to christmas ornaments! If you go around lunchtime, you have to try the desserts! The best time to go is in the fall for cider and doughnuts, but its great year round!
Quality food, very reasonable, different type of restaurant, nice for a refreshing change of pace--there is the orchard itself and the gift shop/restaurant
I come to apple hills to eat, get snacks and spices and to pick strawberries, but fall time is the best. Great apple picking price and election, love the donuts and cookies.
Anytime we are in town we visit Apple Hills for their delicious breakfasts or lunch. The fresh apple desserts are top notch in the Fall. You can pick various types of fruit when in season...great option to get the kids outdoors! It is the perfect place to visit in the Fall, go for a drive to enjoy the foliage and stop in here for something delicious to eat. There is an outdoor patio for when the weather allows. Arrive early on a good weather day as the patio fills up. The only down side is the service is not that great. Every time we have gone the ladies are grouchy...maybe over worked (?) I am not sure. We try to get them to smile and that does not even work. We think that Apple Hills needs to care for their staff better so that they feel better and can be warm and friendly to their guests.
This place is great fun and has good food. Whether it is strawberry picking, blueberry picking, apple picking, halloween or easter time activities for kids it is always enjoyable.
Good apples! Nice for breakfast too. Our "Breakfast Club" meets there several times a season. Fun place to shop or just browse.
Their website will let you know what fruit is available for picking which is great fun. The family style casual restaurant is open year round and the food is quite good. The restaurant can get busy at lunchtime in peak fruit season, especially on the weekends.
