Fun place to always visit. The children has so much fun exploring everything there and all the adults enjoy it too. I think most adults wish they were young so they could play on some things. But alot of things adult and children to do together. I think the kids enjoyed the grocery store and the cafe area and the treehouse the most. It's all fun for the whole family.

Terrific staff, engaging displays, a great place to spend an afternoon with your children. In summer there is a wonderful outdoor Story Book Garden.

Your children will love this place. Many cool exhibits. TONs of hands on activities. Weekends are usually a lot busier than weekdays. Good for birthday parties as well.

I love the Discovery center!!! A fantastic indoor educational,interactive entertainment world for kids of all ages. Like mixing Sesame Street, Mr Rogers and some cool playhouse world all together!!

This is a great place for kids and adults to explore. There are a lot of neat hands -on displays that will keep you entertained for hours. Our favorite is the grocery store and the meteorologist station. Would recommend.

One day, during our stay in United States, more exactly in New York, we made a call to the friends of my wife, who lived and worked in Binghampton,in New York State. They invited us to visit them. So we again started with our Greyhound,to whom we already used to. From the Port Authority Bus Terminal, we passed through the Lincoln Tunnel, across the Hudson River.And here we went again over the land of New Jersey, to the Pennsylvania State. Our coach told us before the travel, that itinerary would have passed beside the Scranton in PA, instead on the other highway in New York State. And not so long a time after a border with State of New York, we found ourselves in Binghampton. The region where Binghampton lies is so called Southern Tier of the State. There is, here a confluence of the two rivers, that is, Susquehanna and Chenango River. These rivers give a certain charm to the city of Binghampton.Our friends decided to show us this Discovery Center, located to the south off the river Susquehanna. And we realized before long, that it wasn't only place for kids, but also for us, the grown-ups. There is a lot of fun, under the roof of this Center.From the little sized cafes or supermarket to the real jet cockpit and as well, the ambulance or firetruck.In this way our offspring teach from their earlist time of life, all the aspects of the social life,that created human being over the past times. Very nice were the story garden and pumpkin coach.Another reminding of our childhood.Very educative.

Fascinating place with major 'mechanicals history of Broome County. Susan Sherwood and friends have put a lot of energy into displaying what made Broom's industries so important and critical to what exists now!

Went with an elementary class of varied ages. There was enough to keep them all busy and happy. The low entry fee made staff happy.We were thrilled with it all - from the book nook to the multilevel maze to the firetrucks to the bubble presentation inside. Then outside to the wonders of the story garden. Wow. We spent 3.5 hours there; could've done more. We plan to return with family. Be sure to bring lunch!

I went to The Discovery Center for a special fund-raising event with a friend. It was delightful! I don't know why I have never been there before. Firstly, the outdoor area leading up to the Center is Wonder-ful! The fanciful creatures in the beautifully tended gardens are a sight to be seen. Think Alice in Wonderland! The Center itself offers many interesting exhibits to young and old alike. If you have a youngster to bring with you the experience will be enhanced. As a long-time area resident I was so thrilled to see the Old Vestal Steakhouse "bull" on the grounds! So glad that The Discovery Center was able to acquire this old Landmark and adapt him for his new role as ambassador to the little tikes! The Discovery Center is an asset to the Greater Binghamton area. It has the added advantage of being adjacent to our century old Ross Park Zoo with its wonderful animal exhibits and also the beautiful, antique wooden carousel! A double-header to be sure!

My kids (age 2, 4, &6) ask to go here every time we visit Binghamton. They love the play grocery store. There are tons of things to do: restaurant, tunnel, stage, bridge, flight simulator, fire truck, ambulance, rabbit, birds, fish, hockey and sports dress up, dentist chair, bank, weather station, and then there are some rotating exhibits. This visit there was a huge bee exhibit and a pirate ship with pirate dress up. And outside there is even more.It isn't a shiny new building like in some larger cities, but it has so many different creative play areas and educational areas.This visit was busier than some. There were some preschool groups with not enough supervision. Perhaps you could call in advance if you are looking for a smaller crowd. We usually spend 2 hours for a visit and then leave only because we're starving. There is an area with tables if you pack a lunch, but we've been turned away by their in-house preschool once,so another call ahead to make sure if you are planning for that. There are snacks and drinks in the vending machine and a gift shop.

My daughter's preschool class drove the hour up here for a field trip. Well worth it! Sure it’s not the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia but it’s also not Philly traffic and it’s a fraction of the price. If you have ever been to Please Touch think a much scaled down version of it. There was a Weis grocery store set up, a fire truck, an ambulance, dentist office, a giant bee hive, a fighter plane to name a few. My daughter loved the bubble exhibit too. You stand on a platform, pull a rope, and try to encase yourself in a bubble. Basically it’s just a giant hula hoop dipped in bubble solution but the kids all had a blast.Outside the museum is an area called The Story Garden. Different attractions mostly based on children's stories, the three bear's cottage, 7 dwarves mine, Peter Rabbit's garden that you can fill up a watering can at the fountain and water real plants, a little wooden bridge with a picture of a foot on it (foot bridge), a paddle boat at "Dry Dock" Lake are just a few of the pieces outside. Admission was pretty cheap too. I believe maybe $7? There is also a zoo next to the museum which the preschool teacher said was very nice but there just wasn’t enough time to do both given there were 40 4-5 year olds and a limited amount of time. I am planning on taking my daughter for another visit next week!Again if you've been to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, some might not be impressed with The Discovery Center but I thought it was such a fantastic place!There is a small gift shop and I believe there was a cafeteria of sorts but not 100% on that.

We recently visited the discovery center with my girlfriend's grandson. We have done this trip many times before and usually it is very good. This time it was a little less enjoyable. Not sure if he was having a bad day or if he is getting a little too old for the place (he is 7). Still we had an enjoyable time and if you are looking for something to fill an afternoon with little ones, you can't go wrong. if the weather cooperates, be sure to see the outside stuff too.

This is not the fanciest or biggest children's museum in the country, but it is very well laid-out and thought-out, with activities and exhibits that will engage pre-schoolers through elementary school age. Kids here get to try their hands at many different activities and vocations, including medical, public safety, and retail. The bee exhibit was very enthralling, allowing kids to experience all aspects of bee colony life, bees in culture, etc. There are many opportunities to dress up, too, and try out different roles in life. The story garden is also wonderfully done. By the time we got there, our little one was very worn out but still managed to have fun in it! Plan for about two hours here. The zoo is next door, too!

I was hesitate about going here, but was only 1hr drive, and the zoo next door. Was so worth the day, and a lot of great experience to be had if you just sit and read. Everything was clean, organized, and well put together. And the price is good too, but I opted for a membership which allows me a full year and gives you some great extras. The zoo is only $2 for the day and that is more worth it.
