My daughter and I rented a 20' pontoon boat from Captain Bob yesterday and it was perfect! New and impeccably clean boat, easy check in, thorough inspection and instructions (thank you, Michael), full tank of gas and we were off. Most beautiful day of the summer on the lake and we enjoyed every minute. Captain Bob and Michael met us on our return and made the final check a breeze - Michael even helped us carry our gear to the car. We'll be back next year and plan to make Captain Bob's part of our summer plans!

While we had been out with friends on the Lake before, we took our first solo trip with a rental from Captain Bob's a few weeks back, and the experience was great. Booking was easy, and we received a comprehensive pre-departure talk that put us all at ease. Surprised by some of the comments about this staff being rude - our experience couldn't have been more different - all of the folks we dealt with were professional and friendly. We just booked with them again for Labor Day weekend.

This reviewer is part of the same party as the review before this one (08/17/14). What they didn't seem to comprehend was that we don't have control over boats that are already out for a half day rental. We have no way to make them return in a timely manner, and after this we are explaining that to customers that are looking for an afternoon rental. It is true they had to wait for a few other boats to come and go, but only because they rented a 10 person boat and the first two boats to return were 12 person boats. I actually asked them if they wanted to upgrade to the larger size and they said no both times. At no time was I rude to them unless you consider being told "NO you can't have that boat at that price" as being rude. We even threw in a tube and no cost because they had to wait.

This lady is correct when she says two parties went out ahead of her, however the reason is simple that she rented a 10 person boat and the two boats that went out before her were 12 person boats. I tried to explain that to her but she didn't care to listen. They did have to wait for a 10 person boat to come back from a morning rental which was expected back at 3 PM and returned late. I have a Jamaican girlfriend ask her if I'm a racist.

This group had a reservation for two 10 person boats. When we send out confirmations that plainly state that if you arrive between 8 and 10 AM you will get your full 8 hour rental. We hold confirmed reserved boats until that time and at that point we start letting them out to other parties. We do have backup boats on trailers that are ready to be launched. If they been there by 10 AM their boats would have been waiting at the dock. Part of the group arrived at the dock at about 10:45. I asked one lady if she had a contract, which she nicely replied their group leaders were in the office doing the paperwork. Two of us then left to launch the second boat about 1/2 mile from our dock. It normally takes about a ten minutes to launch, that day it was busy at the launch and it took a little longer than usual, perhaps twenty minutes. We arrived back at the dock and proceeded to get them out, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes. At that point it was probably 11:15 and we extended our 6 PM due back time until 6:45, which gave them about 7 1/2 hours. They returned at about 5:30 which is early and I had a pleasant 5 minute conversation with the driver of one of the boats. Our day rate policy is clearly stated when someone books and in our confirmations. Arrive between "8 and 10 AM" and you will get a full 8 hour rental.

We go up to Lake George for a week every year and have tried a few different rental companies in town. It was well worth the 5min drive to Bolton Landing! The boat was in great shape and the price was more then competitive. Over all great experience! Thanks.

We rented a 10 person pontoon boat from Captain Bob for my cousin's birthday and couldn't have been more pleased! We were greeted by Bob himself and checked in by his very capable daughter. Another daughter gave us a complete overview of the boat and answered all our questions. The pontoon boat was new, clean and easy to handle, and in the 4 hours we were out only used 4 gallons of gas. After topping off the tank, we were met at the dock by Bob again and guided back in. The weather was beautiful, the lake warm and calm and we had a great day exploring the Narrows. I would recommend Captain Bob's rental any day. PS-We didn't stay at his cabins, but I did get to peek inside one and thought it looked very nicely done.

My boyfriend, 2 children, and I rented a platoon boat and had an awesome time all day. We rented the brand new boat for the 8 hrs. But because we got there a little late Captain Bob let us stay out with the boat for an extra hour and a half after closing. He was waiting on shore in his car just for us to arrive back. Everyone was very friendly, and helpful. Captain Bob and his daughters explained everything we needed to know about the boat and lake. We drove down the hill and parked our vehicle right on the waters edge, so loading the boat up was nice and easy. The prices were very reasonable and cheaper than most of the boat rental sites on the lake. They were also the only rental facility that took Discover Card. I definitely plan on going back there on my next vacation to Lake George!!!

We decided last minute to rent a boat while visiting Lake George on the weekend of July 4th and what a great experience it was!! What could of been a hassle turned out to be a fun and memorable time for us all. Captain Bob accommodated our group of 10 with his friendly and polite staff who had us out sailing in less than an hour. The boat was exceptionally clean and had plenty of space to store our coolers, food and personal belongings. If you're visiting Lake George and looking for a fun time, I highly recommend visiting Captain Bob!

Our group of 10 decided, at the last minute, to rent a pontoon for a full day over the Fourth of July weekend. I called Bob and he said he had one available. Registration and payment was problem free. It was my first time renting a boat. It is a family run business it seems. Bob and his daughters answered all of our questions. They went over the rules and gave me the information I needed to have a safe time on the water. The pontoon we were rented was in very good condition, almost brand new. We arrived at the office at 12:30. We were casting off by 1:20. We filled the gas tank and walked back onto the dock by 7:30. It was a great and fun experience. We would go back again. The office to register is right by the motel off of route 9. Once you register, drive down the hill to drop off your coolers. There are parking spots down there so you can leave your car there. It was nearly full when I was there, so I parked my car on the grass, as did several others. Have fun!!

Rented a pontoon from capt bob.. Upon arrival we were greeted with major attitude. Thank goodness for his daughter who was pleasant and handles the paperwork. You have to go to a local motel like place park up top and walk down a steep grade hill.. No information is given that you should drop off cooler and all and then return to park up top. Took forever to put boat in the water bring it over and then go over rules and regs.. 30 mins.. Capt bob is not very nice and lacks in customer service. He couldn't care less about those who pay ( not a cheap amount) for the boat. There are plenty of other places to rent a boat.

I had a party of 10 women and we rented a pontoon boat. We did not stay at the resort so I cannot comment on it. Bob was our captain on the boat and very accommodating to all of our needs! I would recommend renting a pontoon boat here, we had a great time.
