This place i love it because its close to the beach and the restaurants are the best in the area. Specially having the Long Island Sound as a view
City island is roughly 10 minutes away from where I live. The island is by one main road that runs right down the middle of the island. Restaurants, fishing stores, boat yards and private homes line the main street. The restaurants range from traditional New York diners to some of the best sea-food restaurants the state has to offer. You will not be disappointed, must see location. My favorite part of city island is the driving range and batting cages right before entering the island. Cheap prices and good fun.
I enjoy city island and whenever out of town visitors come, it is a must see location. City Island has upscale napkin restaurants and casual fun restaurants. Great for dates and family dining out experience. Parking no problem because most restaurants have their private parking lots.
I love city island. When I go I go to Sammys at the very end of the block. Nice place good food not so bad as for as price.
Many great restaurants, something for everyone and every budget. More than seafood. Nice shops to browse and pleasant stroll
City Island has many good restaurants with reasonable prices, most of which serve lobster. Many of them have good views of Long Island Sound. Good place to go for lunch, if you have a car.
Great places to eat and walk around with seafood choices representing the diversity of NY and the backdrop of the waterfront and boats
City Island was once a nice place to visit. There's one main street, marinas, good people - a far cry from the type of people living in other sections of the Bronx. They are very particular who they let live there - ala Arthur Avenue section in the Bronx. Every restaurant there, I mean everyone, is way overpriced. The quality is down - prices sky high. I ate at Sammy's, Anna's Seafood and last year, Johnny's Reef (see my review). So not worth the price. Check out other reviews of City Island restaurants before making the trip.
Nice long strip of different Restaurants to choose from all have reasonable prices and the food is always great and good quality, Always a plus that's why I cant just give love to just 1 place there cause I love them all. Staff have always been friendly and quick service. If you want a hint of spanish and seafood Tito Puentes is where its at. If you choose to Drink might I suggest going to Turtle Cove park at a spot and relax a bit and just look at the stars. Enjoy this location.
Crossing the bridge just changes your whole perspective on life. There are 4 yacht clubs and a few marinas hence the nautical feel besides being the home where many America cup boat were built. A small museum restaurants antique shops. Just a lovely place to be or live.
City Island was a pleasant surprise. It's a quaint village and woodsy area near the city. After a crazy NYC day, a welcome relief. The main revenue seems to come from seafood restaurants which line the Main Street. Can't wait to see it in the summer. We ate at the crab shanty. The portions were enormous, nice decor and good service.
When you've done the obvious things in NYC, a trip to City Island is a good way to spend half a day or so. The seafood is excellent and well priced - Johnny's Reef, Artie's Steak & Seafood, Tony's Pier Restaurant and Sammy's are all great options. Don't be deterred by the apparent distance - a 6 train to the end of the line at Pelham Bay Park followed by a (frequent) bus BX29 will get you there. What are you waiting for?
Just absolutely love the island. Great place to hang out with friends. Dinner is always good. The food is good. I love the scenery.
Nice attraction, good food but a bit pricey, Nice view of the water, but not too much else to do. It does get crowded, I always enjoy the slower times of the year....
My wife and I are photo aficionados and we were hoping to see the nature part of the island, but we found that the island is covered in fences and concrete. The only thing to do here is eat. We went to Don Coqui, the food was good but pricy. There is a watching spot about 50 feet long and 8 benchets. The only way to access the island is driving or city bus.
