A great place to Be this garden. The iron greenhuses are monument landmarks. It is a peacefull spot in busy new York. Have been tere several timers and is always a delight to be back and enjoy naturel.
Simply beautiful and enchanting enabling you to walk into a world of flowers far removed from this Winter cold spell. Visually stunning, invigorating, well planned and just the right amount of warmth and comfort. You will not be disappointed, a photographer's dream world.
Long overdue this is one of my favorites places to visit multiple times. I've visited in june and october and will visit again in the spring. My summer visit you experience the lush greens, beautiful weather and plentiful vegetable gardens. In october although the growing season had passed but there was an amazing japanese flower exhibits and seasonal gardens. The garden does a great job of immersing you in its wonders. Whether riding in the trams, exploring the rose garden or in the greenhouses the nybg is a truly magical place. I will be returning in the spring to view the cherry blossoms.
This is a must see with yourself, children of all ages, and grandchildren. The trains are amazing, the buildings and scenery have been made to resemble the cities finest architectual designs. I was completely satisfied with everything about this day. Although, just a visit in general is a beautiful thing to see, the holiday show was magical. Very child friendly but you must park your strollers before you enter the hothouse. Moderately priced and well worth your visit. Print your tickets online.
It is beautiful, centrally located, and has events for every member of the family. My favorite events in the last few years are the Orchid Show and the Jazz concerts in the summer. Both very reasonably priced and wonderful events. These were adult outings for my DH and would not be appropriate for children. Thankfully, there are plenty of activities for the children during the Spring, Summer, and Fall.Enjoy!!!
Nice calm place to spend with the family. I was there to do a pregnancy photoshoot and the sights arr awesome. Great for any kind of event, wedding, family you name it. My favorite dates are spring and fall since there is a lot of colors there.
The famous train show is held here in the holiday season (december). That is a must see event if your are in the city at that time. you see all the landmarks of NY and they are made only using materials from the nature.
you will forget you are in the Bronx while here at the gardens, flowers cannot be beat, Tram ride is totally entertaining and teaches you so much. walking exercise, well this place is hard to beat, not unlike the Zoo. great shop in the garden too. good places for lunch as well. great day at the Garden and not too be missed. fun for all ages.
Before I moved to Florida in 2008 this was 1 of the places that I have had pleasure of visiting. The dtaff was very nice, The sights of plant life and flowers were beautiful, Perfect place for picture taking or selfies lol, Relaxing and Calming environment.
We were waiting to visit the Botanical gardens for a long time, since the website seemed so tempting, and we heard lots of nice things about it. When we arrived, we were happy with the convenient parking down the street. The Gardens were well maintained and the atmosphere was calm and leisurely. We expected the gardens to be manicured with exotic plants and species, however it wasn't so. The majority of the plants and flowers we saw were familiar to us. It took a bit away from the "novelty" factor. I am assuming that the reason for this is that the Gardens want to stay "true to nature". I guess we were expecting to see sculpted flower beds like those that are in front of European Palaces, and instead we got to see well tended, natural flora. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes- you will be doing lots of walking ;) we saw people wearing all sorts of casual footwear- crocs, sneakers...
It was nice but really overcrowded. You dont need much time in there. I was able to see it in 1 hour
We went for the Holiday Train Show which found to be unique and so very creative. The detail and construction were amazing, and the settings among the foliage just great. Don't miss the artist's tent toward the end, with Worlds Fair exhibits. There were no crowds on a Tuesday afternoon near the end of the show's run.The parking at the NYBG parking garage was free after they validated the ticket (take it with you).We loved the desert and rainforest sections.
The New York Botanical Garden is an amazing place in an amazing city. Located in the Bronx along the Bronx River, with easy access by car or commuter train, the NYBG is an educational and scientific institution as well as a public garden. The Enid Haupt Conservatory is a magnificent structure housing a huge display of tropical foliage, special seasonal displays such as orchids and, during the Christmas holidays, the annual and hugely popular Holiday Train Show. Outside the conservatory there are hundreds of acres of trees and plants from all over the world. You can stroll the grounds or take a tram. A lovely cafe and gift shop provide additional diversions during your stay which can well take several hours. One of the amazing walks is along the Bronx River. You won't believe that you're actually in New York City as you stroll the path along the river. There are few gardens anywhere to rival this special place.
The kids enjoyed the trains, we enjoyed the scale buildings. Beautiful show, and the art of making structures just with organic materials is extraordinary. Last year couldn't make it, but this year we did. Highly recommended for a change.
I have been to the Botanical Gardens in the spring for the fantastic orchid show and now for the holiday show which is billed as a train show but is more memorable for the beautiful display of unique miniature/artistic recreations of historical NYC buildings, some which no longer exist. The different seasons offer completely different experiences. The first time I expected to spend an hour and a half and 3 hours later had to leave after wandering only 1/2 the gardens. The second time was a freezing cold day and yet five hours later, I was barely ready to leave. Besides the holiday train show, we visited the gift shop, enjoyed carolers and a special (indoor) holiday concert, and stayed to see the gardens lit at night. There are so many events, be sure to check out their website before going so you can plan your trip. Wear walking shoes and dress for the weather so you truly enjoy all there is to do.
