this is a fun little place in the middle of nowhere. We were here in the winter and this place was packed. They do small tours for $16 pp and it includes a suvioner glass and 4 samples of the beers. The tou is about half an hour and in a little informative. No production is seen just the back of the brewery. Seating is first come first serve with lots of beer and wine available. Also lists of beer to take home. The summer looks like it would be a blast here. Lots of land with outdoor seating and an area for musical groups too. Would love to come back in the summer.
Ok, so the title is pretty bold but honestly I am a huge craft beer drinker and I always end up going back to Southern Tier beer as my favorite in almost every category! Incredible atmosphere, great staff, amazing food and of course the best beer! You cant go wrong with this place!!
We met some friends here for food and some craft beer. We decided to not do the tour (thanks fellow trip advisor posters) and just sit down in the empty pint pub and enjoy the company of our friends while we tasted some select craft beers. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly. I would recommend visiting here if you are into craft beers, it was well worth the trip!
During a visit from my son who lives in Richmond, VA, he said we needed to go and tour this brewery. Being an avid home brewer myself and enjoying a good micro brew on occasion I whole heartedly agreed. Much to my displeasure, very disappointing tour! Tour guide was a young lady and pretty much rushed through the tour without explaining much of anything. She was more interested in talking about herself and how she had gained the position of tour guide than the brewery. When I did ask questions she did know the details and answered, but again, it was as if we were being rushed to the tasting room, which is maybe why many people do take the tour, but not me. I would recommend that you make a stop at the brewery as they have some really great beers and the prices are reasonable, but I do not recommend the tour and as it is on the weekend there isn't any part of the brewing process in work that you can see.
If we had known, we would have gone upstairs for a tasting first. But we were hungry in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday at Thanksgiving weekend, but didn't want too much to eat, and wanted to check the place out. My wife ordered a chocolate stout (we ended buying several big bottles of it to take home, I tasted a few of the amber/copper types and chose one, and my brotherinlaw had a beer as well. They had wine available for those that don't like beer. We ordered a few things to share: Beautiful Mess which was a great nachos that we all loved, a Reuben, and the smokey Mac & Cheese. The nachos were our favorite. It was a busy place, and a bit small, but we managed to get the rail area by the vat windows. The outside seating was enclosed for winter with space heaters. A little cooler, but almost full as well. After we were done eating, we went upstairs to see the tasting room with nice windows to outside and down into the brewery itself. They only do tastings upstairs, you can't order one beer. Will have to do that next time.
This was my first time here and I pictured it to be much bigger! We got there on a Saturday around 1 and were planning on eating but all the tables inside and out were full. We liked the beer but next time would get there by 11!
This local brewery has gained a lot of popularity since it first opened and its beers are widely distributed. There are several varieties on tap at the Brewery. It used to be you could only get a pulled pork sandwich to eat, but the menu has been expanded to include several sandwiches and a "side of the day." There is limited indoor seating, but plenty of outdoor seating, which fills up quickly on nice summer evenings. We have been there on a few Thursday nights when they had live music outdoors.
My daughter and I visited the Southern Tier Brewery for the tour and ended up staying for brunch. Our tour guide was energetic and all excited about the beer brewing process. She answered the many questions with aplomb. Following the tour we were invited to a beer tasting room and could choose four types of beer to taste. Then after all that beer we decided to eat at the "Empty Pint Restaurant" which is part of the Southern Tier Company and it has just the right tapas menu. We had the "Bay City Roller" which is hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage, yummy; and Chicken Quesadillas for two...again very yummy. Definitely a place to visit and try out the beer & food.Tours are only on Saturday beginning at 12:15 p.m. You must sign up for the tour that day, no prior phone reservations taken. On our third try (visit) we were early enough to enjoy the brewery tour.
We went out of our way to visit the Southern Tier Brewing Company and it was MORE that we hoped it would be! My husband loves their beer and just had to visit the brewery. The many beer varieties were wonderful and the food was fantastic! The outdoor eating area is beautiful and relaxing.
Went on the Brewery tour this weeknd and it was Great!! Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the brewery and the beer that is made there. The brewery itself is super clean (you could eat off the floor) and we got to see how they do their brewing process from start to finish. After the 45 min tour you get to have 4 tastings of the beer they have on tap and then goto the resturant downstairs to get some really good sandwiches and listen to music while drinking some more beer. They also sell $3 22 oz bottles that are not completly full if you are looking for a deal!!! If you want to get on one of the first tours (first one starts at 12:15 pm, doors open at 12 noon) get there early, they sell out very fast....
Great beer and cider and an a great pub. This is a great place both or a brewery tour and to sit back with a glass of your favorite brew and listen to some local musicians at the pub. Love it!
Well worth the drive to Lakewood, NY. Glad to see the beer getting world-wide recognition. But a trip to the brewery itself is amazing. Happened to be there when a music festival was happening outside on their patio and stage. If you are a fan of craft beer or a foodie in general, this is the place for you!
We visited the Southern Tier tasting room and gardens this weekend for the first time since they expanded the facility. If you are a beer geek, you're getting close to heaven - there's a nice selection of ST's standard line-up, plus some 'brewery-only' offerings. The food menu isn't large, but is more than adequate for a tap room. The night we were there a Grateful Dead tribute band was playing to an enthusiastic crowd on the patio. Well worth a stop if you are in the Western New York area and appreciate craft beer.
I've been a huge fan of Southern Tier beers for a while and when a work trip took me within driving distance of stopping by, I convinced my coworkers we had to stop. So we arranged our travel to be able to swing by and visit on a Thursday night. We arrived around 8:30 PM on a chilly night. Too bad the weather was chilly - they have a fantastic outdoor space in the back that would have been perfect if the night was warmer. No worries, there was room inside The Empty Pint for us to hang out and enjoy the Southern Tier Products. We all loved our beers and made purchases to take with us. They close at 10 PM, but we thoroughly enjoyed our 1.5 hours there. If you enjoy craft beer and are close, take the time to stop here!
Brewery tour is fun, short and ends with a tasting - the best part. Staff is cool and knowledgeable. The Empty pint has some rare STB and "brewery only" kegs.
