The Foundry Dock Park is very quiet in the winter months, except when the train goes by. There are several benches to sit on and simply take in the nice view of the Hudson, along with West Point and the Constitution Marsh Sanctuary across the river. After shopping or just walking along Main Street in Cold Springs, it's worth the time to stop and relax for a few minutes at the Foundry Dock Park.
Great place to escape. Quiet and peaceful. Easy access to water but large park for picnics too. Outdoor music was a treat.
Small but lovely view of the Hudson and the highlands across the river. Plenty of benches to sit, and a few weeping willows soften the scenery.
Although similar in size to a European sized postage stamp--A FRANCOBOLLI-- (less than an acre/hectacre, MacRae says, lol) the view this 'yak launch affords is ah-mazing! From Foundry Dock Park you can see across to West Point, Constitution Marsh Sanctuary as well as the stately hilltop Chapel of Our Lady. The park also makes a great picnic or meet up spot. If you launch your yak just keep an eye out for Cupcake Island which is right in the middle. Smash! :)))Foundry Dock Park is part of Scenic Hudson and is located on the western shore of the Cold Spring Train Station's parking lot which offers free parking on weekends.
This small park was at one time the bustling site of a dock for the West Point Foundry but now, thanks to Scenic Hudson, its a lovely little spot to sit and watch the Hudson River. Often you will see people sitting on the benches holding hands or even playing music. Many people bring their canoes and kayaks here to launch into the Hudson River. (You can park in Metro North parking lot on weekends, altough there are also two parking spots within the park itself.) Scenic Hudson installed trails to allow full accessibility, as well as native plantings. Its a wonderful spot to come at dawn, to watch the waterfowl leaving the marsh. But sunsets are nice too! If you are walking from Cold Spring, go under the underpass, and walk down Market Street to the south.
