Summer probably best at this cleanest lake in the country. Great places around the lake to eat and drink. Fun shops, small private owned businesses.
Skaneatales Lake is breathtaking no matter what the season. The village has many wonderful shops, restaurants, and bakeries that provide for a lovely get-away for a day or a weekend.
This was our third trip down to the Charles Dickens Festival in Skaneateles, and it was another fun and magical experience. The lake itself is so beautiful, even in winter, and the entire town turns out for this reenactment of an 1800s English weekend. There is so much to see and do, shopping through the quaint little stores where even the merchants get involved. You can stop anywhere along the main roads and get involved with the character actors, all of whom are great at what they do. This is a fun place to be and spend some time on what would otherwise be a cold December day.
What a great community atmosphere that happily engaged tourists. Such pleasant shopkeepers, restaurants, gift shops and a fabulous olive oil & vinegar , herb shop that treated us like family. Awesome lakeside community that warmly engaged guests everywhere we went!
A gorgeous lake, cute shops and cafes and now with the fabulous Krebs for dinner and one of the best spas in NYS- Mirbeau and you have all the makings of a wonderful weekend or midweek get-away.
We stayed at a B&B just outside of town one night. We were able to park and walk along part of the lakehead. Classic resort town, boutique shops, a small park at water's edge, and a pedestrian pier extending out into the lake. Good spot for pictures, including selfies.
What a wonderful place! Beautiful lake, variety of adorable shops from antiques to Talbot's to '300 shoes", Sherwood Inn (Awesome Prime Rib and impeccable service). The best little bakery on Jordan st. (try the coconut doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches!). Mirbeau Spa and so much more. We were there Nov 1- Nov 2nd and we will be back!
The water of the lake is crystal clear and very beautiful. The town has nice benches to sit and admire it as well as a long pier that stretches out into the lake.
Sooo pretty, the houses around the lake are glorious! There is a walk way into the lake and it was surrounded by autumn scenery. Just amazing.
I go here often: right on Route 20, Genesee Street, between Syracuse and Auburn. Lots of shops to visit, places to eat, boat rides to take during summer weather, museums to see and at Christmas, A Dickins of a Christmas to see all decorated, and the story characters come to life to interact with you. So, this is a great place to visit any time of year.
Beautiful lake with lots of nice shops in the town, as well as an awesome bakery that makes the best coffee drinks. Photo opportunities and Patchwork Plus Quilt and Yarn shop only 5 miles east. Boat cruises are offered on the lake
A quaint town filled with wonderful small shops and restaurants. Beautiful lake, friendly people. Perfect for strolling, cycling, fishing, boating, shopping, dining. Good for a day trip, romantic getaway or family outing.
I live 3 miles from the lake, but walk my dogs through the village often because the lake is so beautiful. The water can be chilly in the summer for swimming, but the lake itself is beautiful; wild waves one day, a sheet of glass the next. Fun to walk on in the winter if it freezes over.n walking to the end of the pier and trying to toss a coin on the large rocks is a fun touristy thing to do.
Most pristine lake in the world! Gorgeous picturesque lake with a quaint and charming town! A long bridge/dock goes out nice and far into the lake.
There are few more beautiful lakes in the world than Skaneateles. The water is so clean and pure that it serves the city of Syracuse without having to be treated. There are three beautiful parks in the village at the north end of the lake. The middle one, Clift Park is adjacent to a pier that stretches well out into the lake and includes a lovely gazebo with band concerts on Friday nights in July and August. There are boat tours and a swimming area in this park as well. About 2 1/2 miles down the west side of the lake there is an excellent state boat launch with a great view of the lake.
