the top notch tavern

They have remodeled the Top Notch and the interior is just perfect.....cozy, current dark colors with a gentle touch of the new! Service was excellant on a very busy Friday night....three out of the four of us raved about the dinners....I had the salmon listed on the menu....it was over done and tough.So stick with the specials! Two issues need improvement: we made reservations for a table three days before..when we arrived they had given our table away (and we don't have a common name!!!)....so we waited at the bar for 20 minutes. The bar: while seated the bartender used the carbonated nozzle while mixing a red drink...we were sprayed with red!! Response: "oh, that's been sticking lately"! Save your cashmere. Bring a bib!

So glad that the Top Notch reopened. We used to go there years ago on a regular basis. Remember the free shrimp at the salad bar? The tavern has been remodeled and looks good. Our prime rib and filet were outstanding, as well as the salad bar. The service was attentive and friendly. Being that the entire place is wood with nothing to absorb the noise, we were hoarse from trying to speak at our table next to a group of yahoos that belonged in the bar area. We were there on a Friday night and I suspect Saturdays will be the same. It's great that the tavern seems to be doing quite well, but when we return, it'll be during the week when it will hopefully be less crowded. Wish it was open for lunch, too.

This place is beautiful inside and the Food was great. The outside of the building is a little run down but the inside has been all redone. Great service for being new and only open for a week and the food was great. Note new phone number 518-843-2333
