I visited the church recently for a fundraiser for Sinterklaas and it was nice to see the congregation getting involved. The cemetery alone is steeped in Revolutionary War history and a must for any history buff who wants to see the people who brought us freedom. Many worthy names are buried there.
For those of us of Dutch descent who have dug thru our ancestors' baptism records recorded at RDC Kingston in the early 1700s, this beautiful, historic church (built in 1852) and its predecessors (dating back to 1659) have a special significance. I'm not sure what the hours are (you can phone the church at 845-338-6759); we were having a hard time getting inside (walking from door to door in the rain--hoping one would be open), but then we watched someone enter by PUSHING the left door (rather than pulling the right door). As it turned out, he was going inside to give a lecture to a group, so we just glommed on, sat down in one of those neat padded pews and listened to a very interesting presentation on the church's history. So, it might be worth checking to see when it's open and when a lecture might be offered. Their website also gives a lot of interesting info. We really enjoyed our visit.
