First, thanks for accommodating us before you were actually opened. My boyfriend and I stopped at Arrowhead Springs as our first stop on a wine tour. While I read everything else about the winery and called, I neglected to note the hours and we arrived 30 minutes before they were opened for the day. The owner graciously allowed us to stay and served us while doing her opening. We really appreciated that. We shared many great stories and it turns out that she was extremely familiar with our area and my boyfriend's close friends. The wines were excellent and and the space was very nice, Had the weather been nicer, I could have seen us sitting by the window with a glass of wine. If you are a serious wine drinker, this is the stop for you.
If you travel the escarpment you will see there are lots of options for wine tasting/buying/education on the trail. My husband and I fell in love with Arrowhead. First this you will notice is that they have the most beautiful view. Their tasting room is top notch, and you can tell they didn't spare any expense when they built this place. My husband fell in love with the wood bar, and I usually catch myself staring our the big windows at the vineyard. MOST Importantly is the wine! We spend a lot of our money on wine, and over the years we noticed more and more of it is local wines (& of course our local choice is Arrowhead). I'm a big fan of the reds there. We even joined their barrel club a few years ago and just renewed again for the 3rd year. One thing to mention about this winery is how much care they put into the experience as you taste their wines. I love that they do not allow drunken people to take over the experience (which happens all too often at wineries). They spend so much time with each guest, helping them understand what they are tasting and answering questions about grapes & wine making - it's an awesome experience here. Highly highly recommend. (We go to many of their events too - those are even better!)
My overall experience was spectacular. Everything was about the same as a normal vineyard but Robin was amazing! Not only was she helpful, knowledgeable, and cheery, she handled what could have been an atrocious event with Grace. A bus rolled up with load, belligerent, seemingly already drunk patrons, and robin sent them on their way before any of us got our foot peed on. They had beer cans and red solo cups...when they were sternly told to leave, one called out the "C" word. Robin ignored it, and moved on with our tour!well handled!
As an industry professional, I visit dozens of wineries a year. Arrowhead Spring is always a pleasure for true wine lovers. As others have testified, the experience is professional and the winery works hard to ensure that the experience is wonderful for all. If you are looking to avoid the " red solo cup beer swilling (claim it's water)here for a buzz crowd" this is one of several quality wineries to visit. I highly recommend.
We went here on a recommendation from another winery. Firstly, the building and wine tasting room is excellent. It has high quality furnishings and appears very upscale. One of the most attractive wineries that we ever visited. Oh, there wines are very good. I especially liked their Dry Reisling. Well worth the visit.
I am sorry that you had this poor experience. As I explained to you on the email response, the hotel package you purchased was not authorized by our winery. This hotel took it upon themselves to sell a vacation package that included free tastings at our winery and did so without consideration for our winter hours. They printed their own coupons for the tasting. This was a pretty big surprise for us as well. I am certain that this hotel would not honor a "free entree" or "free drink" coupon if we decided to print some up and sell a travel package. Again, I am sorry you had a poor experience, but you should direct your displeasure at the hotel who sold a deal that included free items from our business.
Our extended family of 12 spent a lovely autumn afternoon here. We were given a tour of the vineyard, pressing area, and the barrel rooms by Robin, one of the owners. Her knowledge, pride, and obvious love of her vineyard and wines added much to the tour. we even got to taste grapes on the vine, and wine still being aged in the barrels. Afterwards, we entered the tasting room to enjoy the wines. Bread and cheeses were also provided and grape juice was available for those who preferred not to drink.
