The displays set up throughout this house reveal the rich local history of the town of Webb. It's a small but significant collection. The items are accompanied by explanatory labels and staff members happily provide additional background. The museum contains items of interest for history buffs and casual visitors alike.
Bring the kids, grand kids, grandparents and enjoy this gem! The local history is very interesting, staff is very knowledgable and friendly.
This small museum really packs a punch. I stopped in with the intention of find material for a novel that I’m researching, and the staff was super-helpful in assisting me in this endeavor. As they searched their databases and files, I toured the two floors of the museum and found many great displays regarding the past history of the area. They have obviously made this museum a labor of love for all things in the Old Forge area (and beyond). A separate building next door is used for presentations, which are conducted on an almost-daily basis. At the end of my visit, I left with copies of some important information that I’ll use in my next book. The staff even made the copies for me to take away! In summary, I urge anyone visiting the Old Forge area to stop in a check this place out. They are great people running a great resource. (And if you can leave them a donation, it would serve to make the place even better for the future.) I give this museum two thumbs up!
we always stop into the Goodsell Museum when we are camping in Old Forge - - it is among our favorites. The displays and exhibits are excellent, the staff is wonderful, and we take advantage of their fine programs as well.
On a rainy afternoon we found families enjoying this small, nicely curated historic site. The current hands-on exhibit featured changing technologies, and the table full of operating old typewriters was a delight, especially for this old keyboard operator. We watched children trying to use typewriters, rotary phones and other old machines and felt seriously old. It was fun all the same!Another interesting exhibit was on taxidermy. We found this surprisingly informative and learned much.Museum staff were friendly and forthcoming. This one's a winner, and is a great way to spend an hour or two with the kids or alone. There is much to engage the curious mind. Exhibits change regularly so repeat visits would be in order.
We stopped in on a rainy day for something different. The home the museum occupies is beautiful. The women working there were friendly and we had great conversations. It was a well planned little museum and worth your time. There is no charge, but we definitely dropped a donation in the box!
Volunteers have done a great job saving and displaying local history. I used to live in Old Forge and it is wonderful to see pictures and items from the past.
Good time to learn about the area. The host was great and learning so much about Old Forge . The pictures are great to see and give you a great view of the past.
Interesting and informative place. Really cool to learn about the area, and the featured displays change frequently enough that every year I learn something new.
A great way to begin to understand the history of this wonderful and delightful community. The staff are all so proud of their town and it shows when you ask a question. Like just about everything else in Old Forge, this is a very worthwhile place to visit.
