Grab some food, catch the stage show every Saturday night during summer @ 7pm then head in to watch a movie on the "big screen" while sitting outside on the grass. Doesn't get any better than that!
This is our favorite summer destination - for less than 1/2 the cost of going to a movie theater we get to watch 2 or 3 movies and enjoy the outdoors. And being a drive-in we can bring our own drinks and food! The kids love to play on the playground before the movies and we always have a great meal at the Charcoal Corral Restaurant that is part of the Drive-In. The concession stand is clean and has many options too. We look forward to many more years of family fun at the Silver Lake Drive-In & Charcoal Corral!
We've been going to Silver Lake for years. Although there is a Drive-in in our own town, it pales in comparison so we'll take the extra effort and drive the distance to have a memorable experience. Before going to watch the two movies on either screen, a person can enjoy several hours of entertainment and food. On the weekends there are bouncy houses (weather permitting) placed next to the multiplex restaurant. They offer tickets per ride or a bracelet pass. The restaurant itself has a pizza parlor, ice cream shop and American food restaurant all in one location. They have a multitude of dining spots to eat in each location, including air conditioned rooms and outdoor canopy patio tables. While your kids are enjoying the bouncy houses and slides, parents often sit at the outdoor picnic tables. There are events almost nightly and on weekends they have an open pit BBQ of pulled pork or chicken meals for $10. While eating folks can enjoy the festive shows and contests such as limbo, the chicken dance, etc from volunteering kids and adults - hoping to win prizes. If that is too much activity to take before the movies start, people can tailgate with their tables/chairs and their own food from home in the drive-in area. No grills or cooking is allowed.Vans, trucks and larger SUV's must be kept to one side of the lot of drive-in screens, but security will tell you right away if you've parked incorrectly. Screen one has a wider lawn and playground area, which people bring lounge chairs, sleeping bags and even blow up mattresses to chill under the stars while enjoying their movie. Yet Screen 2 is still large enough to accommodate people too.The playground is better at Screen 1 with multiple areas than Screen 2. Options forgotten to mention: They also have a miniature golf section near the restaurant that is pretty well set up and an indoor arcade that works on token. NO WHERE ON PREMISES DO THEY TAKE CARDS!They do however, have an ATM machine available for a small fee.Silver Lake is a place that will create memories of a lifetime for your family.
This is my favorite place to go in the summer!!!!! I love the atmosphere and I love the movies and the vintage feel to the whole place! Come here at least 10 times every summer. Since Friday and Saturday nights can be busy try to come in early and put your blanket down on the lawn and grab some amazing food from the charcoal corral!!!! It's still a great time !!!
boy, they just don't get more vintage than this, a fine, old, family-lovin' drive-in with a pretty decent concession stand/restaurant, too... fun under the stars, just like the old days...
Co-located with the Charcoal Corral in Perry, NY the drive-in benefits from all the the corral offers (food, entertainment, etc). BUT...the drive-in also hosts first-run movies, with two being shown for the price of one ticket. So get you get The Black Knight and Ironman, for example. But...the drive-in also has two screens, so you get two more movies (usually for a younger audience) such as Despicable Me 2 and Monsters University. This is a value deal. At the larger screen they also have a whopper of a grassy area in front of the screen that is a playground for kids - swings, jungle gym, etc. AND...they have speakers outside so people can sit in lawn chairs, or lay down on blankets and watch the movies...and actually hear it! Outside movies are cool. But if you want to stay in your car, the sound is not from an old speaker on a pole but from your FM radio. The snack bar is from the '50s - small and warm on a summer night. To me, that's awesome....a throwback that adds ambiance to their totally modern and first-rate screenings. Well worth you time and money. it's our favorite place to watch a summer movie.
Not a whole lot of attractions in this area, so this can be a good option if you have little kids or teenagers and need something to do. Not super modern or high tech, but it works when you're desperate for something to do and they've got something that all ages can enjoy.
This drive-in has been there as long as I can remember and is still family owned. It used to have one screen and a second screen was added several years ago. It's always busy. Has first-run movies. Great place to go with the family. The restaurant that is attached used to be the drive-in snack bar. Food is wonderful.
