Really, though it's depressing. Maybe it's the locals, maybe it's the people who would come from a distance to visit this beach. But my money is elsewhere. Though a little harder to find, I recommend going to a beach slightly north of here at Pointe Au Roche. You won't find snacks there, but the beach is nicer and the clientele likely to have a few more teeth.
Love the beach. The price is amazing. Water is clean. Sand feels nice. Almost ocean nice. The beach is huge so your not steeping on people. There are places u can picnic , there is even a place on site to buy stuff. You can also leave the beach and come back for the same price.
Beach is clean, tables and amenities are taken care of. Nice place for a family gathering or good game of volleyball on the beach. Can be crowded on the weekends and with tourism highs, but it is a nice beach.
Still a good beach with an easy access. I will return. Good place for a family picnic. Parking is $7. It is worth it for a couple of hours where you can pretend you're near the ocean!
not a great beach but, it was clean and the activites are very limit. Its a family place good for family picnic.
The water is great, there's plenty of space to relax and tan. A bit of a walk to the two bathroom houses which are located on each side of the main area. Food stand needs better selection and updating as does the bathrooms! By mid afternoon you'll be lucky to find a clean stall with toilet paper that locks properly. Some people are just pigs but they should have an attendant restocking supplies. Overall a nice day but don't overstay unless you want to be around overly loud and obnoxious people who had too much fun (and drinks) in the sun. Starts getting rowdy after 5pm.
The city beach is OK. Don't get much time to take advantage of the relaxing atmosphere it has to offer but it's a really nice & big beach.
Went early enough and got a great place to sit, relax and tan! Very clean! Would definitely go back!
Lake Champlain is beautiful and it's water is amazing. However, in all it's a mediocre beach. They could take better care of the beach. There was some trash, not a ton. And $6 is a bit overpriced for this kind of beach.
It's let me tell you, nothing like the real beach, because, after all it's a beach. It is quite dirty however, with tons of litter immersed in the water and tons on the so-called "shore". The view however, is quite nice. With the mountains right in front of your eyes. I would not swim in this lake because of the filth and since it is not a real beach. Walking close to it is fine, if I do say so myself. It's only around an hour-two hours away from Montréal. Also, you may see a little playground around the water area. DO NOT send your kids there. It stinks of rubber because there are little pieces of rubber on the floor. If that catches on fire, everything will be burnt by the flames. There are also some life guards there. You MUST stay close to them. Even if you go in the swimming area but not near the little rope, they will whistle. (Just a tip.).There is a bathroom/changing room, but it is only a notch higher than a portal potty. They should renovate it.Also, try not to stay at the little lake too long. It gets boring. I recommend 1-2 hours, 2 and a half maximunm. The food is overly priced.
Nice spot, but area need to be wider. Water is clear with nice sand.5$ for the whole car this is pretty good price !
Clean, large Affordable drinks, f you did not bring any. DJ with good music for youngsters . Reasonnable parking price 7$
This beach is an hour`s drive from Montreal, and easily accessible from the main highway. It is well maintained and offers all the necessary facilities. The water is cool, but very clean. The beach is sandy, clean and large. You need to bring your own beach umbrella, because there is no shade. The picnic area has tables and trees. The parking-admission price is reasonable. There is a Macdonald`s down the street, the Naked Turtle Restaurant and Bar at the marina, and a great little grocery store with great prices, Aldi`s on the main drag where the shopping centres are located. I always bring a plastic red oil can for an extra fill-up with American gas.
Went & spent a day at Plattsburgh City beach which is located on Lake Champlain. Not too many people as it is now end of summer, which i was happy about.6$ to get in on a weekday(per car) & 7$ on weekends.Water was basically not the best i've seen & i've been to many lakes in quebec.Water was full of stuff (lots of bugs in the water too). Tried to go in parts of the water that were clearer but the lifeguard came to see me to tell that i was only allowed in the designated swimming area. I responded that the designated swimming areas were not too clean & she just shrugged her shoulders. I asked her what they do when the beach is more crowded than it was that day & she said that they all have to cram in the 2 designated swimming area (which to me looks like it fits about 50 people comfortably).Went with other people & we all agreed that we would not be coming back. Not a great lake to swim in.
Wow !! What a beach !! Nothing anywhere in Quebec can match this incredible beach. It looks like it's about 2 km long and about 50 feet to 200 feet wide in some places. The view of the Adirondacks and Vermont's green mountains is unreal. We went in late June and from the beach you could see the snow on top of the mountains. The water is deeper at the west end of the beach. Absolutely no weeds or rocks anywhere, just soft sand. Water is pretty clear and not too cold. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards for like $15 an hour and go anywhere. If your a teen or young adult it's best to go swim and hang out at the far west end. The west end has much more sand and wild trees. The boats tend to park around this area also. Watch out for the life guards! They are a real pain. The will whistle for any reason. Touch the floating rope and they whistle. Try to sit far away from them and you will be better off. It's $7 to get in Canadian or American ( should be free ).NOTE TO CITY OF PLATTSBURGH : You don't need to waste money on all the life guards. There are always too many. Half of them are just hanging out. There is also staff that ride around all day in the John Deer gator not doing anything. Do they really need 2 people in the pay booth to collect the entrance fee?? Get rid of the swimming zones. Let people swim all over at their own risk ( all you have to do is put up a sign ). Open the beach on the 1st of May and leave it open until the end of October. Oh ya, I went 5 times already this year and there are no garbage cans anywhere past the last wood post going west. This is why everybody just leaves there garbage on the ground. I asked the life guards about the cans and they had no idea. With the money you will save you could rebbuild the original beach house and get rid of the ugly commercial build that's there now. Look at some historical pictures and see how nice the beach and buildings were.
