We didn't know what to expect as our host of the area had been when it was fright night. According the the Ms. We found it to be very informative and fun to see parts of the fort that are not open to the public. We made our reservations several weeks in advance and very glad I did as it was a sell out. I would recommend this to any one who enjoys history and a walk in the dark.
The Ticonderoga Historical Society is located in a beautiful Georgian style home at 6 Moses Circle, Ticonderoga. The building was constructed in 1926 and patterned after the Hancock House in Boston, built in the 1730's. There is a gift shop, a museum, and very helpful people who are attentive and know their history. The building is open 10-4, Wednesday-Saturday, year round. If you have an interest in history, and the time, this museum is worth a stop. The gift shop has many very interesting books at reasonable prices.
We toured the Historical Society and it has many nice displays, great history from the area and era. Many stairs. Very nice art gallery. The people who work there are very knowlegeable and so friendly. It was a nice place to stop.
