I do not live far from Niawanda Park. When spring finally comes, I try to get to the riverfront anytime I can. It is a great place to just hang out, grab a bite to eat, fish, people watch, walk, bike or take in many of the local events that are held there. There is a bandshell with many shows and entertainment through the summer months. It is one of my favorite places to watch July 4th fireworks!
River walk paved path with great vie.ws and places to sit and rest and relax. walk in any kind of weather, places to park car.
Having grown up in Tonawanda about 3 miles from Niawanda, I have a lot of great memories of the park; swimming, boat races, water skiing, biking, concerts, hanging out, you name it. These days when I visit the Buffalo and Tonawanda area in the summer I make it a point of taking morning walks on the riverwalk path. Its a beautiful park for just about whatever you want to do with a day or just a few hours.
no other American community along the Niagara River takes such advantage of its location as small, oft-maligned Tonawanda... for bikers, hikers or even slackers, this is a lovely stretch of solitude, even in the autumn when the leaves are orange and the ice cream stands are gone... an exemplar of how less government attention is more...
Niawanda Park is located directly along along the picturesque Niagara River, Great for walking, jogging, roller blading, taking your dog for a walk or just sitting on a bench enjoying the view and people watching and the boats sail by. Better yet go and watch the sunset over the river its is sublime and beautiful . The park does gave gazebos you can rent for special events and a decent amount of parking. Stop at nearby by classic restaurants old man river and Mississippi mudds get a hot dog a burger and a famous milk shake. The park has easy access and is kept pretty clean. In the winter time you will find people sledding the nearby hills, All in all nice park well kept and fun to visit!
Talk a nice walk down by the water in Niawanda Park or just come down to one of the many shows at the band shell during the summer. It can be crowded at times and there are certain times you can walk your dogs so its best to find out the times from signs post in the park along the walk way.
I live one block from here and frequent it often for long walks along the river. Have been going for the 20 years I've lived here and it is a beautiful spot. At night, the sunsets are gorgeous and the sound of the water is perfect. One downfall are all the seagulls and geese. And the people that feed them to keep them around.
This is a lovely park area maybe a mile long along the Niagara River. It is a place where you can walk, bike, or roller blade while watching boats. There are a couple of hotdog stands and ice cream places nearby. There are also bathroom facilities and picnic tables.
Has two nice ice cream/hot dog & hamburger stands across the street. Jet Ski rentals across the street. Live entertainment (check their web site). Bike path, walking path and dog friendly.
Love the bandshell, new pavilion is wonderful, beautiful view of river and good food close by! Perfect for boating, relaxing, picnics and family gatherings.
Whether you enjoy biking, running, or walking, Niawanda is the perfect place for it. The view is lovely. There's a band shell for concerts and a small sled hill for winter fun. Food is available across the street at two seasonal restaurants.
Great park to come and get some exercise on the bike/walk path. Park runs along the Niagara River through the City of Tonawanda. The bike path and Riverwalk are a little crowded on the weekends, but if everybody stays in the areas they are supposed to be on, the traffic works just fine. The bikepath connects up with Buffalo, and continues all the way along the Erie Canal.
Ride my bike on the Riverwalk through Niawanda Park every day I possibly can. Love it! The Riverwalk goes from Amherst, NY, to downtown Buffalo, NY, actually. Bike-riders, roller-bladers, walkers, all frequent it. Pretty area. You can enjoy the view of the Niagara River, the townhouses built near there. This area is becoming a tourist area for boaters, as well. Many fine eating establishments nearby. Very convenient to everything!
this is but a strip of land alongside the niagara river, which is running fairly swiftly at this point, but it's perfect for relaxing, chatting and people-watching at least 10 months a year... parking, during peak times, can be troublesome... no other community along the niagara waterfront does so well in making these scenic views available to the public at no charge and no hassle
This park has a paved path for biking, roller-blading, or walking. Along the path, there are benches where you can sit and enjoy the view of the Niagara River. If you boat or JetSki, there is access to the river. Hungry, there are some eating spots across the road. There are picnic tables, but, if you plan to grill, you need to bring your own.
