My partner and I really enjoy the easy two-mile loop hike here at this gem of a local park! Whenever we want to get our cardio going a bit close to home, as opposed to driving to the Catskills or Adirondacks, we come here. It's very picturesque -- the rushing river on one side, a more peaceful stretch of river on the other, cliffs, forest, always deer roaming, sometimes a bald eagle soaring, etc. A little slice of heaven in our backyard!

Hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing all within walking distance of my front door. Living nearby this park has been wonderful. There are lovely trails that take you all over the island. Hiking is possible from the time the mud begins to harden in the spring until the snows start. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. The tip of the island right at the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers has a large picnic pavilion if you want to have a group function. The area surrounding is manicured greens and would be great for families.

First time hiking in this area in many years. It appeared that this is a well enjoyed family area as there were families as well as individuals taking advantage of the trail(s). Everything from foliage, waterfalls, and wildlife in an easy hour hike.

In the middle of the hub bub of the Albany & Troy Capital District, Peebles Island is a quite enclave for walking. It almost feels like a secret. A path winds around the edge of the island with great views of the Mohawk River all around, including some impressive rapids.

Peebles Island is accessed by driving over one lane bridges either from the Waterford or Troy side. During the week, there is no parking fee, and the trails are fairly empty. Be sure to print out a trail map before you go as the trails are not well marked. There are only color-coded tags nailed to trees to help you find your way. The Cohoes Falls are a nice view, although there are no barriers at the edge so you would need to be careful if you bring small children. Pets are allowed on leash, although I did observe some dogs off leash, but with owners taking care when they saw other pets. I only observed one young deer during my one-hour walk. Peebles is recommended for a nice hike.

Nice walk that is not difficult. Views are amazing and it is very peaceful. I enjoy going around dusk (make sure you park outside of the park or you will get locked in)

We've been to Peebles several times. There is a small fee to enter the park. We take a walk on the trail. Our grand kids love it. It's great to bring a picnic lunch and when you get to the halfway point it opens up to the point the Mohawk & Hudson meet. You can see the rapids and it's a great view. Really nice activity for adults and children.

This is an amazingly diverse island where the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers converge. Full of singing birds and other wildlife.Free during the week, $6 to park on the weekends. I recommend parking in Waterford and walking over the bridge!

We didn't check out the whole park, just the lock area, and it still was very neat. Anyone who likes history and water should check it out. Close to RPI (10 minutes) and other parts of Troy.

This Island has changed so much! I am so glad that it has been revitalized over the years. Lovely picnic area. Rolling green fields. Nice trails!

Nice park with picnic tables and Pavilion. Nice area by the River. This was the lastbStrong Hold during the Revolutionary War before troops could take Albany which never happened.

This is a nice little area with some very well kept trails, year round. I've been here for small meetups, hiking, and have seen some people paddling around the area.

Sorry that the State does not have the old collar factory open as a museum. You do get to walk were the Hudson meets the Mohawk River. Walking distance of a Lock for the Erie Canal which can be observed in season. Worth the time to enjoy the views.

Peebles Island is such a hidden little gem! This place is a great to walk with water views for much of that walk. Great place to bring dogs and children! It is filled with a lot of history as well. I think it's about 2 miles so it's a really nice short walk, on a pretty day you can see the river for miles. If you have never been I would recommend 100%

This park is beautiful. It's hidden in the middle of the city, but is so peaceful and quiet. I got married there last summer. The view of the water is amazing. Great area for kayaking. A nice 2 mile walk around the island, with waterfalls and river views along most of the trail.
