Typical Six Flags ... I don't necessarily dislike it but I can't say that I like it. It is hard to go to an amusement park after going to Disneyworld because these other amusement parks just don't know how to move people as efficiently as Disney does.
Although slightly over priced we have been going to this park since it was called Storytown USA. It has matured over the years and the sleepy fairyland of storybook themes has grown into a sweeping land of thrills and chills. Food is over priced, beware. But the park is a beautiful place that still has some nostalgia to it. And the kids now a day just love the fast rides!
My siblings and I went as we had three hours to waste before heading back home and we had our Montreal six flag season pass (which they accepted). It was awesome, my siblings and I did four rides within those three hours. We went on a rollar coaster and three other amusing rides. Depending on how popular the ride is, the line can be extremely long. Nevertheless, we entered the park around 2pm and left around 5pm and we managed to ride four of them.Enjoy:)
Our plan was to visit this park on a quick trip for only one day. We were hoping to also take advantage of the water park as well. Well not knowing how large and fun the place was, even being there from almost opening to closing, we only saw and experienced half the park and never got a chance to try out the water park. We had a blast, with 8 and 2 year old boys, we were able to choose lines that were not too long even on a long weekend. The swan boat ride was the only ride that had a ridiculous long wait. The only negative we had was that the go karts were extra and one of the rides we were on, there was an accident, and everyone had there ride shortened to only a minute at most when it is normally 10 minutes, which was a rip off.The positives though outweighed that negative, and we'll be looking at returning again (possibly even the summer coming up), but this time go for multiple days such as a whole week so we can experience more of the park and the water park.
We live 40 minutes away and go during the summer with many grandchildren and their parents. There is something for everyone there. The water park is especially fun on a hot day. There are a few rules they have, like no coolers brought into the park. Plan on spending a lot on parking and food. Some local businesses and motels can sell you discounted tickets which is great. Try to find out where you can get those tickets. But the park is a lot of fun. The rides are awesome for teenagers, and there's a perfect section for little kids, too, with age appropriate rides. You won't be disappointed.
This six flags is a bit below the six flags average line, the lines for food can sometimes reach 45 min. and the service is very slow, and ride waits can be very long and not shaded plus, at Swan Boats usually only one of four boats are actually working! The passes for the season and parking are a great value if you plan on visiting 3+ times. Though one day parking is grossly overpriced. The park is also not the cleanest . Though this is the only game in town so most of the time it is busy just for that reason.
I live not far from the great escape and decided to purchase season passes. I think that for a one time visit it is ok, but is a little pricey. You have to pay for parking and then food which becomes expensive. With the season pass, it comes with parking which saves you a lot. I think that it is perfect if you like rides and if you go early the lines are not as bad. I recommend this place to families with children who really enjoy going on rides. They do offer an area for smaller children with gentler rides which is a nice treat.
This amusement park used to be Storytown, U.S.A., and it has lots of rides to go on, such as the Comet, and the Grand Carousel. I liked going into the gift shops to see what they have.
Went during frightfest on very cold day. Was waiting for night time to fall so we could really get into the spirit. Decided to have a beer inside to keep warm and waited in line for 10 minutes to be told at 458 they stop serving beer at 5. Give me a break. The haunted houses have great potential but should not be charged theatre prices for high school productions.
It is incredibly pricey to visit any of the six flags parks. So this one is no different. We paid $80 for 5 of us to eat lunch. The biggest complaint is that if they made it more affordable, we would visit more often. The lines are also extremely long for the rides and a lot of the rides need to be updated (peeling paint, etc.).
Six Flags Great Escape Splashwater Kingdom in my opinion is better then Six Flag's New England. This is because they have lots more awesome and cooler rides. My Favorite ride is Alpine Bobsled and Raging River.
Best theme park I've ever been to!!!!!!Very reasonable my kids looovvvee it! There are a bunch of rides and I take my children there very often. There are so many arcade games. It makes me feel like a kid again!!!
Our annual summer trips to Lake George were not complete until we took the kids to Great Escape. And once they were old enough, we felt comfortable knowing the kids knew the park like the back of their hands, and had no problem dropping them off for the day. A great amusement and water park right on 9N.
Fright fest is a blast! We go other times, but Fright fest is anticipated every year. We look forward to the cool new adventures presented to us. We notice more people come every year.
I have been going to the Great Escape since I was a toddler. It has the same rides from 20 years ago. It's just very aged and very much over priced. Went there a couple years ago with my husband and his friends, almost $75 per person!!!! Just got to Six Flags in NJ.
