Loved the MC of the show, a local with great, engaging jokes. A former SNL writer added some grit, & the headliner, a British woman, was edgy & had us all rolling through her set.
For New Year's 2015, we went to their annual party. If you went this year, chances are pretty good you went a few other years too. The crowd look like they were starting to get to know each other. And, we're also going back next year. Here's what they do, open bar, dinner, comedy show, champagne toast at midnight, DJ and a hotel package taking guests by shuttle to/from the comedy club. If you drove by this place and it looked like the parking lot was empty ... oh hell no. The women are dressed to impress and the guys looked just as great. Leave your jeans at home it's New Years! Seriously, we met this really nice couple that met on match.com. They seemed perfect for each other. The whole night was just fun. Good mix of ages mostly 20s-30s, a few 40 somethings and those pretending to be. It was the kind of party where everyone looked like they wanted to get their party on w/o fear of losing their professional licenses/careers to a dui. This club knows how to throw a party.
Had a great Friday night laughing it up at The Comedy Works watching Gilbert Gottfried (last Friday with John DiCrosta). Laughed till I cried! At a reasonable cost, in a cosy room, I'd highly recommend a date night or friends night out here. Try the cookie smash too, it's delish!
My wife and I like comedy shows, but there are none near to us, so we usually only get to see comedy shows when we are traveling. When my wife saw that Carlos Mencia was playing, she asked me to check it out. The prices were very reasonable. Since it was over an hour away, we decided to stay at the hotel next door to the club. There are a few very nice restaurants just down the street, and you can get food at or before the show at the club itself. Considering the high quality of entertainment and reasonable prices, we were really surprised that it is a fairly small venue. It has a very small stage, and all the seats are close enough to the stage so it feels rather intimate. We had a great time, and look forward to seeing more shows here.
Nice place to see a funny show. Wouldn't recommend any of the food (portions are huge but not particularly tasty) though. Great line ups of comedians.
