We were "passing through" Niagara Falls and still made time for this sight so don't be lazy and take the time to view this geologic wonder. Granted we are both geologists, but whatever, this is fantastic place with an awesome amount of energy flowing through a few hundred feet below the cliff which you stand on.
Worth a side stop to see the views! Beautiful even during a snow storm. Easy hiking and/ or walking.
This is yet another natural wonder about 2 miles down river from the waterfalls. The whirlpool can be viewed from high up on the cliff our you can take a long stairway deep into the gorge and walk along the river to whirlpool. It's all incredibly scenic and where else in the world can you see giant waterfalls and a giant whirlpool.
This place is an amazing stop along our visits up in the Niagara Falls area. Definitely stop and see the sites here. Nature is a beautiful thing.
The day I was here it was lovely. The whirlpool was swirling and the river meandered. Very pretty.I would make this a stop as you explore the area around the Falls.
The view is nicer on the American side, but you'll need your own transport to get there. You can see the river meander, the whirlpools as well as the Aero Car better. On the Canadian side, the WeGo Bus Green Line (C$7, hop-on-hop-off) brings you there. Where you get off, after you've seen the place and the Aero Car, you can walk about 1.5 km down the road to the opposite station of of the Aero Car and the look out point there where you can see the look out point on the American side. The views of the river meander and the whirlpools on this side are not as impressive as those from the American side.
It's a huge lazy Whirlpool. Pretty amazing still but it must be much better from Canadian side as it's hard to actually see most of it from US side.
After seeing Niagara if you go to "Whirlpool State Park" you would make yourself embarrassed. Its like comparing tap water with Rain Shower. May be it was our bad luck .The water won't swirling and there is nothing else to see, other than the Valley view which is all around .
The whirlpool wasn't as active as we expected. The water wasn't swirling as much as you would think. You could see a few spots where it was churning. We didn't go on the jet boat tour of that area, I'm not sure its open to the public yet..It was part of our tour, we wouldn't have went to see this if it wasn't.
When they give strength of trails, I insist on doing the hardest! Difficult was no joke on this one! Because of the falling and fallen leaves and rain, the trail was crazy! But such great views!
In the fall, the trees are spectacular! The path way to the sidewalk along the area is not improved but that is where the handicapped spots were. You get some really good views of the Niagara River and the Whirlpool as well as rapids coming into the Whirlpool.
We enjoyed the beautiful leisure stroll on a cool sunny Fall afternoon. The park were maintained very well with a majestic view of the Whirlpool! Don't miss it out!
A quick stop here provides you with a wonderful view of the whirlpool. The park offers a playground, picnic tables and pavilions, hiking and biking, a nature trail, fishing, cross-country skiing.I believe that they could use some better landscaping and weeding here at this park.
We experienced this as part of the tour we went on 10/11/14. We didn't get to stay long but it is awesome to see the whirlpool. I wish we'd had time to ride the Aero Car across the river to experience the whirlpool closer.
After leaving Niagara Falls took scenic route going along Lake Ontario to Lake Placid and stooped along way at Whirlpool State Park didn't have the time to hike down to whirlpool, but really enjoyed the view and small park museum located in park.
