Although we have kayaked before, we weren't that familiar with the coastal waters of this area and decided a tour would be best. So glad we did. Ed's instruction on while we were still on dry land was very helpful and he made sure everything was set up correctly BEFORE we got in the water. He also ascertained the experience level of the group (mostly beginner) beforehand and adjusted the tour appropriately. My husband and I did a kayak tour in Boston about a month later and noticed these personal touches to be lacking, making us appreciate the professionalism of Seascape even more. Ed is very familiar with the area and was able to choose a tour based on the weather and tides. It makes it a surprise where you will be going until the night before, but well worth it when it comes to the enjoying the best paddling route for the day. During the tour Ed moved around from boat to boat and chatted with us, making for a pleasant paddle. We stopped on an island, which gave us a chance to rest and enjoy a blueberry muffin (baked by Ed's wife!). Would definitely tour with them agAIN when we return

The bicycles were in excellent condition and they took the time to fit us with the correct size bikes.

My husband Bob, and I had a wonderful time with Ed and his kayaks. His preliminary instructions certainly put me more at ease prior embarking out on the !ocean waters. We kayak with our own boats, however, traveling in the tidal and more turbulent waters was an adventure we had not yet positively experienced. Well, this trip was indeed a fun ride where we saw wildlife as well as were able to safely negotiated our kayak touring in the coves by Winter Harbor. Ed coached our group along the way which just added to our kayaking education. We truly plan on having another adventure with Ed where we might explore some other parts of Frenchman's Bay. Thanks again, Ed, for a wonderful trip.........Irene & Bob Granell

We saw this place listed on the maps we were given at the hotel and decided to check it out. I was a little leery about kayaking but the people were so very nice about everything. We decided to get bikes instead and they couldn't have been more helpful. Cheryl is a doll!

Ed and Cheryl of Seascape Kayaking are courteous, friendly and safety-conscious when you plan a trip with them. We kayaked with them last year, and came back again this year, and had an absolutely amazing trip with Ed. We saw tons of wildlife, and Ed was very conscious of participants' skill level, and tailored the trip to make it very enjoyable. When you stop for a snack, you're treated to some of Cheryl's baking goodies, and you scarf down every delicious bite. We will definitely kayak with them again, and would highly recommend Seascape to anyone interested in a trip on the water! If we hadn't brought our own bikes this trip, we would have rented from them, too! The Poppers

If you haven't done it, rent bikes and bike the Schoodic Loop! A very easy 12 mile loop (the youngest in our group was 11 and did it with no problem!) that will be a family tradition every time we come to Maine! So much fun to stop along the road and explore. Call ahead to make sure they have enough bikes. The owner was extremely helpful, gracious, and knowledgeable. It was so much more fun and engaging than simply driving the loop (which is beautiful!), especially for families.

We had a great time on the water with Ed. For anyone who might be hesitant about trying kayaking for the first time, know that Ed is thorough and safety conscious. His on shore tutorial covers anything you might need to know as you get started. Once on the water Ed keeps you focused on the beauty of the area, spotting wildlife and pointing out islands and land features from the water. Midway through the tour we beached and had a snack before heading out again. All along Ed was careful to check that we were comfortable in the kayaks and on the water. The culmination for our trip was a terrific view of caves. Great day on the water, just enough exercise to work up an appetite for a lobster roll afterwards.

Ed is an excellent instructor and guide and his trips are memorable. We traveled out to Ironbound Island, visited sea caves, saw porpoises, and had a great time.

Ed and Cheryl Brackett were great. This was my wife and I's first sea kayaking experience. Our original trip was cancelled due to mother nature but Cheryl rescheduled us and Ed was able to take us out on a very memorable experience. He was very patient and concerned with the whole group. Ed engaged with each individual during the course of our trip. His knowledge of the marine life was exceptional. I highly recommend Seascape Kayaking.

Our trip got postponed a couple of times due to Mother Nature, but Ed finally got us out on the water and we had a great time paddling out to the bay with great views of Acadia and Schoodic point. He was great to talk to sharing his experience and stories of Maine. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I spent over 4 hours with Ed and 6 other kayakers. His instruction was thorough but very user-friendly. I had gone sea kayaking about 8 years ago (my wife had never gone), and we both got what we needed from the orientation. The chosen route was perfect for the weather/tide conditions, and Ed knew the seascape like the old salt he is. Everyone hade the chance to enter the cave and then the "slot" -- and Ed's steady hand made even the novices feel like old hands. If you want to experience the Schoodic area at water-level, this is a great choice!

We have just taken our third trip with Seascape Kayaking. Each has been led by owner Ed Brackett, and each has been excellent. We had zero experience before the first, and Ed patiently and thoroughly explained the fundamentals. We knew we were in good hands. His knowledge of the area is indeed impressive, and this coupled with his style and manner of leadership, makes the experience both enjoyable and educational. Very highly recommended.

We did a 2.5 hour round trip out to an island. Ed is an experienced, confident guide and brought us through some choppy waters when the wind kicked up. Great experience.

My wife and I are experienced sea kayakers from Florida, but had never been to Maine. After reading the other reviews and checking their operation, we scheduled an outing last week with Ed and Cheryl. The kayaking exceeded our expectations. Ed's local knowledge and expertise was valuable, and we both gained additional knowledge in paddling and kayak handling. The sightseeing and wild life was a real treat. We would highly recommend Ed as a guide for the novice or experienced kayaker. Howard & Linda
