fishin' 4 fun

We have vacationed on Moosehead every year for the past 15 years. This year was the first time we decided to take a guided fishing tour. There are many great Maine registered Guides to choose from but I have to tell you... Fishin' 4 Fun with Captain Larry was the best ever. We loved the 4-5 hr excursion so much that we took another tour the following week. Both times we caught more fish then we could eat - once we lake trout and once with Salmon. Here is the best... Captain Larry was patient, very funny and taught us a lot. There were 6 of us, (5 kids under 18) and he was the greatest. I would recommend Larry and Fishin' 4 Fun to evryone that wants to fish while in the Moosehead Region. As a matter of fact, we plan on taking a "Leaf Peeping" tour when we return in Oct. What I loved about Larry is he didnt make the kids feel funny if they did somjething wrong or made a mistake. The second tour, we caught one more fish than we needed and he suggested that we give it to a few of the elderly folks in town for a nice supper. That is the way everyone should be... If you want catch fish on Mooshead Lake and have fun in addition go see Larry Farrington at Fishin'4fun. We had a party of five guys and fished with him three at a time for two days. We caught a mess of lake trout and salmon taking ten home to cook and throwing the rest back for the next group. Larry put us on fish and kept us entertained with banter straight from the Maine woods. Tell Larry what you want to catch and he will alter his spot and technique accordingly. When he asked us what we wanted we said simply "fish" and got a variety. Sizes were good, up to 20" for both lake trout and salmon. If you are an experienced fisherman or a nimrod Larry will adjust to your skill level with instruction, advice or just friendly banter. I haven't had as enjoyable a day on the water in a long time and will call him the next time I go back.
