The staff are very knowledgeable and offer a wealth of information about the history of the Moosehead region and the logging industry. A small museum is on site with hundreds of items related to the history of logging in this region.
So much history and stories of days gone by. Visual displays and interesting facts. A must do on rainy day.
Clean, organized, well light and helpful. We were a group of 4 senior citizens. We enjoyed our stop at the Historical Society. What else would you need?
We arrived to get some information and ended up taking a tour of the premises, led by two women wearing outfits from a century ago. They gave us a lot of stories about the house we toured, the region in general, the days of big hotels on the lake (all now gone), and the type of life the residents had in the early days. The persons could not have been more helpful also in giving us suggestions for things to do in Greenville. If you stop here, you will be glad that you did. (And the charge for a tour is only about $5 -- what a bargain!)
My Dad dragged all of us to the Historical Society on an overcast day. It is a small place but the woman in charge was very knowledgable. They had a box with stuff to " guess' what it was and the woman was very patient with my son. Nice information about the area. Interesting things on logging and flying.
I was thrilled when I stopped at the Historical Society building and found photographs of a now deceased relative taken at the turn of th century. The staff was incredibly knowledgeableand I enjoyed the exhibits and items on display. I highly recommend this as a stop on any travels through Greenville.
