Goose Rocks Beach is a great beach for long walks - beautiful sand, nice views…..dog friendly but with restrictions during peak season.
Just went by to see what the beach was like and couldnt find anything that looked like a public entrance. A wildlife refuge at the end of the road, but get good directions for parking if you want to visit.
We recently went to goose rocks on a beautiful sunny day. The kids loved it and it was pretty quiet. In the past we've gone here and found the beach overwhelmed with seaweed. However this time it was gorgeous and others I've talked to say that they've not experienced the beach being littered heavily with. Seaweed. It seems like a good place for family to go and it is an easy place to find.
Hardly anyone around in October, about 6 people on an enermous beach. Surrounded by holiday mansions, no parking charge in October, fine area.
The well packed sand makes the ideal surface for a walk, even if you cannot normally walk on a beach in soft sand. The beach was almost deserted on an ocvercast September afternoon but we would have walked further and stayed longer had there been public restrooms.
This is one if the greatest hidden treasures in the Kennebunkport area! Either summer or after Labor Day, if you like very long walks on a beach where everyone is friendly , says hello and you still have privacy this one is it! Wonderful for children since when the tide goes out every 6 hours they can have lots of fun in the small tide pools and climbing on rocks. Traveler alert: If you are not staying in one of the beachfront rentals at Gooserocks you need to get a parking permit from either the police station or the General store ( which closes after Labor Day). But it's so worth it if you love the beach. Also no dogs on the beach after 8:00 am or before 6 pm.
Beautiful beach with FREE parking and very clean and quiet - what a great place to relax and/or take a walk.
Love love love it here. Pristine huge sand beach with lots to do for kids and adults. Great crab hunting for the kids. Grown ups can relax or paddle board and not worry about kids . Can't wait to go back. Not crowded at all.
It's worth the $12.00 fee to park at Goose Rocks to enjoy this wide, pristine beach. It's very family friendly, with safe areas for children to play, fly kites, test the waters. No dogs allowed on beach, no smoking, no boomboxes: just good clean fun.
Even though the whole parking permit thing $12 for the day, regardless of how long you stay, is a bit of a cash grab - this beach is one of the best and is truly beautiful! Watch for the tide times though, as we were lucky to have been there for 3.5 hours before the tide came in to the edge of the rocks, so we had to leave...... Some people were just arriving and would be disappointed. A truly gorgeous beach, nonetheless and not too crowded.
I have been to many beaches in South Africa, Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe over many years and Goose Rocks beach is one of the most beautiful I have seen and been to. The deep sandy beach overlooked by attractive beach houses, is very wide, over 4 miles in length and the sand spits and the islands offshore ensure that the vast bay is calm making it ideal for all manner of activities including kayaking, sailing, paddle boards, skiming boards etc. The sea is crystal clear and while wading or swimming you will see lots of crabs and schools of tiny fish. The huge open spaces on the beach meant we saw lots of baseball, football, frisbee and bat and ball activity too. Wish we had discovered this beach when our kids were younger as the sand is perfect for constructing sandcastles! The $12 parking fee is worth it and the General Store is an easy walk to get a lobster roll for lunch; the Tides is also an option including take away coffee!
Nice beach for Maine! Watch out for the rocks....Chasing my kids on the beach stubbed my toe on a rock and broke it, ouch! Mosquitoes are pretty bad here as well, but if you stay moving not a big deal :)
You need to stop at the general store to buy a parking permit for the day. and make sure you put it on your vehicle. we saw them checking each car. The Beach is beautiful, the water was cold, but this was Maine in late June!!. We hit this at while the tide was going out so there was ALOT of sand. perfect for kids, families everybody!
Parking here is tough which keeps the crowds down. Most of the beach goers are folks who rent or own nearby. This is why this beach is so great. At low tide, there is an island that can be accessed-but don't get caught out there when the tides comes back in, or you will be stuck.
