A great course which sticks to its original design....Always s pleasure to play; year in and year out..

I played here several times on my recent holiday in the area. The course is old fashioned, not being overly long and with the fairways set quite close together. However, there are a good number of interesting and challenging holes (with eight hitting over or alongside water), the greens are generally large and testing and the course is in exceptionally good condition. I found the members and staff to be very friendly and enthusiastic. A great course to play on vacation.

We had the opportunity to play on the 4th of July. The staff were exceptionally nice and made us feel at home. My wife originally wanted to only play 9 holes as it was her first time playing post baby, but we were having so much fun that we played all 18 and the manager was very accommodating. We highly recommend playing here.

I have been fortunate to play this course many many times over the years, and aside from the stupid-looking house behind the 15th green/16th tee (it isn't on the property, so not much you can do but try to ignore it), there isn't anything bad I can say about this course. It is certainly about the shortest course you will find (not quite 6000 yards from the back tees), but, easy it ain't. It is like a history lesson in how golf courses were designed in the old days - old days as in 1921 (Walter Travis). The greens are generally square-ish, very undulating, and vary greatly in size. Not many flat putts to be found. The "chocolate drops" off to the sides of the fairways, the rough bunkering, and the fescue grass areas are all visually attractive (so long as you don't hit your ball in them). The holes require a range of shots off the tee and precise accuracy with your irons if you hope to score well here. This is a course you can play over and over and not get tired of it!

Tricky but fun golf course, Thank God the greens weren't overly fast. Would like to lay it during the summer.

A relatively benign looking course (aren't they all) but the various false fronts, sides and backs around the green keep it challenging for golfers of all levels. A beautiful peaceful environment with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. Lots of history and great photos in the clubhouse. As an added bonus you never know if a former President may stop by!

Have played here quite a few times, including once when Bush Sr. was in office and came out to play the day we were there. Terrific, shortish track that is a very fair but challenging course with great marsh views from many/most holes. Sometimes difficult to get a tee time on weekends in particular.

On a Sunday afternoon I went out alone to Arundel with a carry bag and small array of clubs. The pro set me up with a couple who were members. The course was in good shape, the weather was great and it was quite playable. The round was going well (one over for the 1st five holes) when we noticed a cluster of golf carts coming up two holes behind us. It was ex President George W. Bush in a foursome with Jim Nance, the club pro and a young boy. The President walked up to us on the tee of a par 3,said hello and shook our hands. We exchanged some small talk and we played that hole with his group directly behind (now my shots started spraying) when another cluster of carts with his father ex President George H.W. Bush, Barbara and two small dogs running around comes rolling in to join the others. Turns out it was George H.W.'s birthday. It was a welcome relief to ask them to play through so the shots could fly straight again :-). The clubhouse is a Yankee thrift no frills deal with members BYOB. A nice golf course, friendly people and a round to remember.

I love old style golf courses. Built in 1896, just outside of Kennebunkport, ME, Cape Arundel's undulating greens offer a challenging putting test. The course from the back tee's plays right at 5859 yards for a par 69. Only one par 5--#9. This course, where Presidents play, is no push-over. Its quirky layout--remember its over 100 years old--adds to it playing pleasure. Played today, 39 on the front with 39 on the back. Black tees 123/67.8. My index I 8.0. With a course handicap of 9 strokes I found my around okay. Love the rustic clubhouse. at 95 (75+20 cart) it is a bit overpriced, but well worth playing at least once. You won't forget the course. This is my second trip. I must like it. They don't sell adult beverages at the clubhouse.

Course was in excellant condition; greens challenging and true, fairways twisting and turning through beautiful grounds and water.Members were friendly, helpful and welcoming.....a great round of golf!

Nice short (6000 +/-) yard Semi-private, historic golf course. Lots of water and nice greens. Nice little course to play while visiting Kennebunkport, ME. The past President Bush’s play here during the summer months while in the area. Cape Arundel is not a modern course with all the amenities. There is a small clubhouse and pro shop but there is no food service (at least on the Saturday we were there) and no bar! The 19th hole is usually what I need after the way I play the first 18! However, the course is historic even though it looks a little like a muni course. It's short (par 69) and mostly wide open with very few trees. The course is laid out well though and you don't get a lot of peoiple playing out of the wrong fairway. The course has been around for over 100 years and there's a Who's Who of people who have teed it up. President George H.W. Bush is a member here and has played with President Clinton, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson and of course, his son President George W. Bush. Sam Snead has also played here as well as Fred Couples. Mickelson owns the course record with a 60. I had to play it just due to the history. The way into the clubhouse is tricky though. The road goes across 5 holes and alongside a par 3. Golfers have to wait for the cars to come and go before hitting. The clubhouse is tucked alongside the 18th fairway and the river that winds down the other side. We teed off at noon and were done at 3:30. I love that pace. The people working there were all extremely pleasant and the course is open to the public. We played the week after Labor Day and the only downside was that they just aerated the greens. That was disappointing but I'd definitely play here again. We paid $70 each with a cart.

It has become a semi-public course. It's a very narrow course so it's often hard to tell where your green is and where the next hole is.
