While in Maine rode the bike to this lovely Light House in Bristol. So picturesque Definitely a site to see. We got to go in and I snapped a picture of the outside and inside.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is stunning...right on the edge of the beautiful rocky shore of Maine. One of the most photographed lighthouses in all of New England...lovely grassy area around lends to gorgeous weddings and other functions taking place here. We have actually been present for two weddings...the scenery is breathtaking. You can also see a lot of professional and amateur photographers...snapping the view...taking engagement photos as well as family photos...and of course photos of this magnificent lighthouse. Many people walk their dogs...or just sit and take in all the beauty around. Lots of easy parking...although there are times it is closed. This lighthouse is breathtaking morning, noon, and at night. Well worth the ride to Pemaquid.

It was pretty interesting to see the giant light and lens and the equipment for this lighthouse, and the brick inner walls and iron stairwell were pretty awesome!

I never tire of visiting the sea at Pemaquid Point. The lighthouse itself is most appealing to me as a focal point for photos, viewed from the incredible rocky shoreline-- the boundary of ocean and continent, laid bare; continental granite and basaltic sea floor that melted and swirled together like vanilla and chocolate ice creams. The rocks are heaved onto their sides, and the beautiful layers of color all lead your eye straight up to the lighthouse.Sunset there is ethereal, but it's always awesome.

The Pemiquid Light is THE Maine light. Nit is on the Maine quarter and is the reason I found my favorite vacation spot in Maine. A real must see.

Beautiful lighthouse. If you are on the grounds during the day there is a small fee to visit the museum that focuses on coastal life and the history of the area. You can climb up to the top of the lighthouse for views of the open sea. For the adventurous you can climb the rocks that represent the very tip of the peninsula. It's is generally safe, but as you hit the edge you are at the mercy of the sea. For those who may be more faint of heart, you can also take in the view from picnic tables. No open fires, but great space for packed lunches. There is also an artists gallery featuring individuals from Maine and another building where they hold featured events such as book signings and movie screenings.

This is a beautiful lighthouse. Since I don't live far away, I try to visit when it is not crowded. My favorite visit was a moonlit night in October. However, if you are visiting, they open the tower to visitors at times during the summer. I notice one person said it is an easy climb which it is if you are young but I have done it in the past few years as a senior before I replaced both of my knees. You just need to use some common sense. Once you get up there you can see Monhegan Island and oh my, how beautiful the breakers can be on the rocky shore below. There is a restaurant and gift shop near by as well as an art gallery. The parking is ample. Enjoy... there is nothing like our wonderful coast but I am totally prejudiced!

Great little lighthouse -- one can easily climb to the top of the lighthouse. Spectacular views. Minimal entry fee of $2.00 per person; children under 12 are free. Nice displays in the attached house.

Although some lighthouses along the Maine coast can be viewed for free, at Pemaquid you get to view AND go up inside the lighthouse, as well as get entry to the attached museum and gallery.Pemaquid is also the lighthouse pictured on the US quarter for Maine. It's a charming and very picturesque lighthouse, and certainly worth the trek out there.

The lighthouse is picture-postcard perfect, and the view is terrific. There is room to spread out a picnic if you want, and there is ample [parking.

Pemaquid point is an amazing beautiful area. The beach, full of dinosaur egg rocks, made for a great adventure in finding a geocache there. Be careful, they are slippery in spots and not always stationary ( the beach kept some of my DNA when I fell and scrapped my knees pretty bad) The coast is just so picturesque , got a lot of fabulous pics at the sunset. Definitely worth stopping. I would have like to see the other things there, but they were closed.

We love visiting Pemaquid Point. We visit South Bristol Maine every year in early fall and always make a point to see Pemaquid Point. It is a breathtaking view, very calming - allow time to sit out over the rocks and soak up the coast for everything it has to offer! There is a nice museum and you can climb to the top of the lighthouse if you would like.

A wonderful lighthouse and museum on the coast of Maine. The setting is breathtaking and the guides were wonderful and very informative. This is a memorable attraction.

We were taking our first trip ever up the Maine coast and on a whim decided to go out to the Pemaquid Light. So glad we did!! We stopped at a few different lighthouses and our family agreed that this was the best of all of them. Beautiful scenery and the crowning glory was being able to go up the lighthouse with my 2 children and letting them see what it is like inside which is something you couldn't do at the other lights we visited. Don't miss this one!

Visit the lighthouse first, then sit on the rocky cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and soak up the sounds, sights and smells of the waves crashing over the rocks. Bring binoculars too so you can watch working lobster boats.
