The multi-use trail is well groomed for cross country skiing as well as snowshoeing and has some beautiful views.
A 180- degree perspective to see the ocean, ships and part of the city of Camden. From the parking on the top of the mountain or from other parkings, il is also possible to take walking trails of various levels of difficulties.
A great place to spend a short time time. Beautiful views, walking paths, take a picnic. Or just relax. Incredible photo ops.
Drive up to the top of Camden Hills and marvel at the wonderful sights. You can clearlysee the town of Camden and the Camden harbor. Absolutely gorgeous views all around.
Stayed here in the fall while traveling in Camden for work. Told the ranger that I wanted to be away from the RVs and didn't mind a walk to the bathrooms, and he put me in a site that was tucked away from everything and everyone. Great tree cover, fire pit in good shape, and flat ground to pitch a tent that was nice and dry even after a few days of rain prior to my stay. Amazing that this place is truly within walking distance of Camden, and Mt. Battie is a nice little (emphasis on little) mountain with some great views.Highly recommended.
I was surprised, perhaps the time of the year, that there were very few people at the park. The park is a wonderful location for a picnic and an ideal place for families with young children who like to hoot, holler and scream. Young children that are not conditioned to sit quietly usually are not appreciated by other patrons in small confined restaurants. With the great grocery, bakeries and takeout foods available this is a great place for a family picnic.
What an amazing experience for a couple from DownUnder to be able to park the car safely at the entrance to the park and hike the couple of miles up well formed trails to the ski cabin. Our friend had booked this gorgeous cabin for a overnight stay, snow had fallen a day or so earlier and the ample supply of wood was soon ablaze in the wood stove. We set our sleeping gear up on the bunks and made our way up to Zeke's Lookout for an outstanding coastal vista. This trail was also well formed, and we enjoyed a leisurely hike to and from the lookout. The warmth of the cabin was shared with a couple of other couples who were hiking through. The little stream provided us with our water - we used filters. The privy was clean and well stocked with TP. Staying here just before Christmas was truly magic, especially as the temperatures at home hovered around the 100 mark. We had enough snow for a snowman, albeit a little one dimensional. Highly recommended on beauty, basic facilities, price and location.
Many easy hikes to the summit with great views on all sides. Visit Maiden Cliff for a beautiful view of Megunticook Lake and read the history behind the Maiden Cliff name.
Lots of hiking trails and you can not beat the views of the Harbor. outstanding panoramic views of the bay and the town of Camden Maine.
I couldn't ask for a better destination! The park and hiking trails are clean and well taken care of!
Try never to miss an opportunity to either walk or drive up to the top of the Camden Hills (hiking trail is entirely separate from road access) if it is a sunny or even partly sunny day. The views are wonderful. You can also camp in this state park (seasonally) but I haven't done that for years so I can't comment on the sites or bathrooms.
We popped in this park after lunch to see the views from Mount Battie. We then decided to stay the night in the RV parking. It had nice large spots nestled in the tall trees. We had quite a storm that night but we did not have any water problems and roads were accessible the next day. Great park!
Went up Mount Battie on a beautiful, sunny, fall day. Leaves a bit past peak but the yellows, orangey reds and rusts were still striking in spots. The view went on forever as it was a clear day. A wonderful spot that never gets old.
Probably the best view of Penobscot Bay may be seen from the top of Mt Battie. Steep but short auto road takes you to the top where there is spacious parking. You can easily climb the stone tower to get a panoramic view of the area. There are also many hiking trails that will take you to the top. Worth the trip
Camden Hills State Park is a perfect spot to hike in the fall. Trails are well marked and well maintained. Views from the mountain tops are spectacular.
