The views from the top of Mt. Battie are a must for any visitor. Since there was a lot of snow in Camden during my visit, snowshoes were the way to get there. Wearing my snowshoes, I climbed the face trail, which was very steep but very direct to the top. I expected to see lots of other hikers trekking up and down, but saw only one couple. Unfortunately, this couple had decided that they didn't like the marked trail and made their own path. Since many of the trail blazes were covered with new snow, I followed their path and found myself on a steeper climb than otherwise. Well, it was faster that way, but more challenging in places. As per the advice of a very knowledgeable employee of Maine Sport in Camden, I took a gentler carriage trail back down. A fun adventure!BTW, you are charged a tiny fee if you come in through the ranger station, but nothing if you hike up the Mt. Battie face trail that starts from the end of Megunticook Street.

Easy drive up the mountain and well worth it. Incredible views of the Camden Harbor and Coast-line. Should be on your Camden "bucket-list."

We climbed the trail instead of driving to the top. It was a great workout and we got to see the sunrise. It was amazing and beautiful. We will definitely go back.

Camden, Maine is a very picturesque town, with lovely shops and restaurants. What sets it apart is the incredible view from atop Mt. Battie. Edna St Vincent Millay was inspired to write poetry, and there are historic signs to explain about the cable car that brought people up here back in the day when it was a resort. I have been to Camden several times, but always include Mt Battie in my plans.

Many visitors to Camden spend time at the many wonderful shops and restaurants but do not drive up Mount Battie. This is a great location overlooking the Penobscot Bay that should not be missed.

Whether you drive up, or hike up, the view from the top of Mount Battie is stunning. Prepare to be here for a while, just enjoying the panorama of islands and staring off to the horizon.

We're Mainers, so we've been here many times. Spectacular view of the harbor & surrounding mountains.

One of the most beautiful scenes in the northeast USA. Because it was December and quite cold last visit, there was only one vessel in the bay: the ferry to Islesboro. the view of Vinalhaven was clear, the water flat and cold. Drive up, or even better, take the hiking trail if you have time and the weather is reasonable.

The view from Mount Battie is one of the best views I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Not only is the view great but the entire Mount Battie park is extremely well taken care of. I work in Camden and am always recommending Mount Battie as a sight to see but I finally went up myself and brought my family. They loved it just as much as I did. A big plus is the fact that there is handi-cap parking (for my Gram) right in front of the view! I will definitely be back in the Summer!

A must see when in Camden. Easy access up road from entrance to State Park. Better and more fun is to take one of the many trails to the summit. Can't miss the star at the summit from Thanksgiving evening till after New Years. A fun cross country ski on moonlit night with spectacular views across the bay!

People of all ages will enjoy spending time at Mount Battie in Camden, Maine. There are many different hiking trails along the way up. You can park your car at different levels, where you are comfortable hiking from. You can start at the bottom and enjoy a nice hike all the way up the mountain with spectacular views, or you can park near the top if you want a short hike to the top, but with the experience of having views from the hiking trails. Once at the top you are overlooking Camden Harbor, the town of Camden, islands with beautiful houses, sailboats, tall ships, and I even saw a huge hawk flying right below, which was quite a treat seeing one so close, yet being above the trees. Absolutely beautiful in the fall, with the colors changing. Great place to take photos. I saw one lady on a bus tour trying to get a picture of a Maine license plate with the loon, she was chasing the car trying to catch a photo. It is so wonderful to see people from all over the world, speaking different languages, but all so friendly with smiles that are universal.

A short drive from the Inns in Camden, the summit provides an incredible view of the area. We had a picnic lunch at the top. Although $9 was a bit steep for an entry fee.

This is a yearly trek with our dogs. Love the scenery and the walk around the summit. You can hike up or ride up.No military discount unless you are Maine Nat'l Guard--state park rules. Nice camping areas for primitive camping. A few E/W hookups out front.

We went to Camden Hills State Park after lunch and went straight to the top of Mount Battie. The views were wonderful. Everything was very accessible.

We paid the senior admission of $3 and it was worth every penny. It was a clear beautiful October afternoon and we spent two hours walking around, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. There is a port-a-potty near the parking area but I didn't see a drinking fountain.
