quill hill

This was a very nice destination for our family to go to on our vacation to Rangely. The views were great. Make sure to bundle up, as even in June, it was very cold at the top.

We were on our way to play some golf at Moose Meadows when we saw a small little sign that read "Quill Hill" with an hour. It looked friendly enough so we began to drive up the road. It was very well kept and the signs at every corner were very helpful, especially to our family who had no idea where we were going. When we got to the top after about a 15 min. drive the view was absolutely amazing. Words can't describe how beautiful the view was--definitely a must-see for anyone vacationing in the area!

It was a short drive from Rangeley, and about a 15 minute drive up the gravel road to the top. The view was good, and we were able to see lots of mountains and lakes. Worth the drive!

From top of the hill, you see a vast 360 degrees area. The best time to go is early in the morning and before it's getting dark. Weather permitting, the view is magnificent and photo will be a treasure.

We heard that a private citizen developed the unpaved road(9 miles or so) winding up to the summit. We were glad we had a rental car as it might have been a hard drive for our aging sedan.We could hardly believe our eyes once at the summit...360 degree views of the entire lake region. Thankfully, there was a local man there with his grandchildren and he could point out what was where. It is unspoiled and quiet but nowhere to sit for almost seventy year olds.

Drove up Quill Hill in the Fall soon after it opened and what an amazing experience it was. The views were stunning with all the trees ablaze with colour. It was Maine at its wild best. Thank you so much to the owner for allowing us this wonderful opportunity for free. This is a must do!

It's an amazing point to view something like 12 lakes and beautiful mountain scenery, but the road up and down of course is really dusty and your car will get smothered so beware.

This is a quick trip from Rangeley. Dirt road is a 12-15 minute climb to the top and has complete 360 views. Really pretty and worth the trip.

So glad we got to do this. One of the most spectacular views I have seen. Drive up a little scary but the road (dirt) is very well maintained and well worth the drive up. Seeing all the mountains and lakes and the fall colors, so great.

The view at the top of this hill is spectacular in all directions. We took a picnic lunch and simply enjoyed the scenery.

We went early in the morning and saw fog lakes in the valleys and glorious red/gold/green on the hills and mountains.... And passed a moose on the lower reaches of the drive up!

As long as it is a clear day you will see a wonderful view. You are truly up with the clouds. The drive is a bit bumpy, take the time and check this stop out.

A bumpy, dusty 12 minute drive was rewarded with stunning views. A panorama of colour with lakes glistening.Fantastic.

A well-maintained gravel road to the top is an easy 10 - 15 minute drive. The views from the top are nothing short of spectacular. A great spot to watch hawks soaring and the trip back down affords some great views as well. No facilities, so stop before you go up.

Sunset view is not to be missed. Plan on spending 1/2 hour, so get up there well prior to sunset. See it all before the hill is all developed with expensive homes.
