This is a free and fun experience for all ages if you ask me. There is LOTS of hand made candies including the giant moose and his little bear friends that you can see, read about, and pose with! There are SOME candies for sale at the counter, but NOT all items. Like I wanted to try a piece of their fudge - NOPE you have to buy in bulk. So that was sorry. The other BAD thing, for me, was they wont allow customers to use the restroom. So, if you have driven specifically to this place to see them and make a purchase and you have a little one that needs to potty the message to you is TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE LADY! Which, I think it kinda pathetic.
Life-size chocolate moose, and some bears too!Excellent homemade chocolates. Friendly staff.Wide selection, even sugar free too!
Len Libby makes the BEST candy and chocolate... I have been a customer for years but my taste has evolved from milk chocolate covered vanilla caramels and Bangor taffy to the more healthy dark chocolate bark with pomegranate and wild Maine blueberries and the incredible dark chocolate covered ginger. It's definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Maine on vacation or if you just live in the Portland area!
Some of the best candy around - all made on site - also has a life size Chocolate Moose on site. Easy to find, located on Route #1
You've got to visit Len Libby Chocolates and see Lenny the 1,700 pound chocolate life size moose! He's amazing, and you can view how they made him, too. The chocolate candies and fudge is SO good!!!
We always head for Len Libby's when we are in the mood for something sweet. They make most everything locally and it is always fresh and delicious. Our favorite is the dark chocolate butter crunch.
We stopped by here to see the 1700 pound chocolate moose - it was quite remarkable. We also bought a few pieces of chocolate, which were delicious. We appreciated that there were no high pressure sales.
A great production of Moose made of chocolate, bought some of their candies and what we loved the most was their chocolate ice cream, so densed and not to sweet. So easy to find just along US Route 1.
Nothing special but my wife has a thing for mooses so we had to stop by. the chocolate moose was a good photo op. the chocolate candies were just OK but the ice cream was very good. Obviously caters to tourists but the staff wasn't very helpful or nice.
Len-Libby is a small candy shop, it has a little bit of many kinds of candy. The best thing is the homemade chocolate, wow just delicious. I got several different kinds and all of it was wonderful. I must say it is on the expensive side, I think they could charge a little less. Part of the interest in the shop is the huge chocolate moose, Lenny. He is very big and very cute. They also have a lot of Maine souvenirs. I also got some of these. Len-Libby is worth the time for some good chocolate.
A stop at Len Libby Chocolates just to see the 1700 pound Chocolate moose is worth the trip. Picking up some of the best chocolate and candies you will find anywhere, adds to the value of the visit! There is something for everyone in there selection of treats and well as an ice cream shop on premises.
This was a nice stop on our way up the coast. I wish now that we had gotten more chocolate because it is so good. We aren't even done with our trip and the stuff is all gone. Maybe we can swing by on the way to the airport. Lenny the moose is cute too. Bunch of things there for the kids to check out while you shop for chocolate.
We got the Sea salt chocolate caramel and Lenny's tracks I've cream. Although they had a nice taste, they were disappointing. The sea salt ice cream had very free chocolate chunks, and seemed more like plain sea salt caramel ice cream.
This place is great. The ice cream is delicious and not that expensive. Many unique flavors of ice cream. The worker at the ice cream place was not nice. If you go their you have to bring a camera so you can take a picture with the chocolate moose. Also if you go to libbys you have to buy the Bangor taffy even though it is very expensive (it is so good). You should come here if your in the area.
Any place that has a near life size chocolate moose as an attraction definitely qualifies as a tourist trap. However, the chocolates were pretty good. We all especially enjoyed their milk chocolate butter crunch (what I would call toffee) and the kids ate all the salt water taffy before anyone else got to try it. Our cat sitter enjoyed her "lobster on the Rocks" - a cute boxed set with two milk chocolate lobsters and chocolate rocks. We'd definitely stop in again if we're in the area.
