I have been to York Beach ME 10X's so I have done Cliff Walk it is right across the street. Wait till weather is better or until snow melts.
This could be a great attraction but there are disputes on access on the walk so it doesn't go as far as it probably could. The views are spectacular.
When you mention York, most people think of the Nubble Lighthouse & the Long and Short Sands Beaches. However, I must say that this little walks needs to be added right up there in the category of awesome attractions.I must say I stumbled upon this spot when I got a little lost driving the back roads from Kittery to York, but I was very glad I found it. The beach/harbor area was so peaceful and serene on this beautiful autumn. The waves smashing the rocky coast were quintessential Maine. The walk is short, with some trick spots and very narrow most of the way. However, as long as you don't try and book it along this quick path you shouldn't have any trouble. The views are great and the walk is very peaceful. Whenever in the area, take some time away from the usual attractions to enjoy this spot (and the adjacent Hartley Manor Reserve as well).
We walked along until we came to the 'danger' sign. Great views of Harbor Beach and the cliffs. The small parking lot has 'Permit Parking Only' signs - I'm not sure if it was for specific spaces or the entire area.
Beautiful View and a very nice walk! Several Restaurants on the path along with several places to stay with great Ocean front views!
This short walk along the low cliffs and shoreline of York Harbor is a must for anyone in the area. It provides some good photo opportunities of the rocky coastline and the pounding Atlantic waves.
If you want an adventure, Take a stroll on Cliff Walk. You will encounter a walk of climbing & some treacherous strolling, but the views along the water are worth the trouble. Be prepared with water & sunblock, & your cell phone, in case anything goes wrong. A good pair of hiking shoes are recommended, because the trail is difficult. This would not be appropriate if you are traveling with young children.
the path was easy to navigate. the views were outstanding. It was alot of fun to eat across the street and then take the walk.
this is one of favorite places to walk. what a workout.you get! wear your sneakers since its great to be able to venture out onto the rocky coastline for some great pictures.such a beautiful place
The cliff walk has beautiful views of the rocky coast and ocean. In some places it is narrow, which can be a little scary. It ends at a nice public beach.
Starting at the cove end, we really weren't sure where to get back to the street level. Fellow travelers, coming our way, helped us out with that.
The walk is about one to two miles long but can be narrow in places. shoes or sneakers are mandatory for a safe walk; don't forget the camera for some great pictures of Stage Neck and the beach.
Enjoy a lovely walk along the shore line on this well prepared cliff walk. This is where you get to appreciate the beauty of this coastal area.
This is a highlight of any visit to the Harbor beach area. The trail goes out along the coast. This is not a level walk but a true trail so not for everyone. The town is in a dispute with abutters who are trying to limit access so the walk ends well before where it used to. Very much a Maine experience.
