parking is reasonable, tickets are affordable and good seats everywhere. If you want to go to a game and not spend a fortune this is it and the team (Sea Dogs) was pretty good.
Hadlock Field is my personal favorite minor league ballpark, I try to go at least once every summer. Parking is easy enough, very abundant and easy to find. Free parking can even be found if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the ballpark. The ballpark itself is clean and inviting, a great place to bring the whole family for an afternoon baseball game. There aren't any bad seats, the general admission bleacher seats are fine but if you want to spend $9 on a box seat those will get you a bit closer to the field and be a bit more comfortable for your back. The food is good ballpark fare, you'll find all the usual items at fair prices. If you spend time in Portland and have never visited Hadlock do yourself a favor and take in a ballgame one afternoon or evening, I doubt you'll regret it.
Even if you think that you hate baseball, please keep reading. In an era of over paid athletes rising ticket prices MLB continues to grow in popularity. Baseball was once referred to as the "national pastime", but with higher priced tickets every year it is a reach for many families to attend an MLB game very often. A family of four in a big league city can easily spend $200 to attend one game when you factor in gas, parking, tickets, food, and souvenirs. While the action on the field is high calibre, one must truly follow the game to understand why they are there.Along comes minor league baseball and why it is making a resurgence. Ticket prices are low even for the good seats. At Hadlock Field in particular they were in the $8 to $10 range and there wasn't a bad seat to be found. The stadium was small by MLB standards, so everyone had a good view of the action. Parking was convenient and as I recall I parked on the street for free. For the purist, the baseball product on the field good, but not polished. It gives diehard like me a chance to scout young talent. I attended a game in which the home team played the Eire Seawolves, a Detroit Tigers affiliate. It gave me a chance to see some of the Tigers highly touted prospects in action. For those less committed to the game, there were a variety of games for kids between innings, baseball trivia games for adults and all gave prizes to participants. The restrooms were clean and convenient. The concessions were reasonably priced and so were the inevitable souvenirs. The stadium was very clean and well maintained. It appeared to be pretty new and its dimensions were patterned after Fenway Park the home of Portland's Major League affiliate the Boston Red Sox. It almost seemed that we were watching the Tigers play the Red Sox in Fenway, which would have been a very difficult and expensive ticket to get. All in all, I have nothing but the highest praise for Hadlock Park as an attraction and I have been to games in many minor league stadiums.
Great place for the whole family. Fun and safe atmosphere. All seats are good for watching baseball.
This is a very well run minor league baseball team in a family friendly environment. There is good visibility from any seat and no one is seated that far from the action. There is nothing like watching the sunset with a beer in hand at a sea dogs baseball game. None of the dates above apply since I moved away two years ago.
Four (adults) went to see the Portland Sea Dogs game and we had a blast ! We have been enjoying this stadium in Portland for years. The ballpark is always clean, the sight lines are pretty good (avoid deep down the left field line), and the food and beer is very good, and reasonably priced. There are always fun "in-game" contest and promotions to bring in the fans ! Great time and a great, safe family environment.
Great family fun and a great atmosphere! Very cheap way to take the family out and they have solid food that is reasonable. Also have local Maine beer on tap.
the seats are priced fair. the stadium is vey nice. in between innings there are just enough shenanigans to keep even the least of the baseball fans amused; people watching picks up the slack on that one. it is no shocker that the food is overpriced and not good for you, but that is all part of the allure for some. I cannot comment on parking, for we live about a 10 minute stroll away. check their schedule for promotions and giveaways.
Old time family fun at it's best. Take my office staff here every year.Sat in the right field bleachers this year and had a great time. Bring sun protection on a sunny day.
Nice little field, good baseball, fun crowds make for a good time. A fair amount of free parking in the area depending on game time/day...you will get ticketed if you don't pay attention to those signs!
Food was great, service was ok; a little slow on drink refills. They need brewed tea for their southern visitors.
I doubt there is a bad seat in the house, with the distances to the Portland SeaDogs players still being quite small even from the General Admission seats. At only $8 per adult and $5 per child, it is a fun, affordable activity that I highly recommend. When we went, a rainout the night before meant they were playing a double-header, which you could stay and watch without having to buy another ticket! Outstanding! The activities between innings were fun to watch, and certainly fun for the kids and parents who were plucked from the crowd to participate. The race between the four kids dressed as packages of ketchup, mustard, relish, and mayonnaise was hilarious. Catch a game or two here for a great baseball experience.
Very family friendly and everyone who works there is just happy to be there. The woman in the gift shop was very welcoming and told us how proud they are of their "mini-Fenway".
The Sea Dogs are the farm team for the Boston Red Sox's. The players are friendly and come over and greet everyone. The games are good and exciting The food is what you would find at a major league game but not a expensive and the staff are happy to see everyone. They go out of there way to talk to everyone and make them feel welcome
Spent the extra money for the all-you-can-eat seats on top of the right field wall; great seats, standard ballpark food but served by very friendly and accommodating staff, and a nice night at the ballpark.
