Amazing place to stop by on a random sunny day and enjoy the breeze while drinking their tea and eating fresh rhubarb pie. The muffins and basically anything else that comes out of their bakery is delicious, as are the farm fresh sandwiches they sell (you can really tell the differences when your vegetables were grown that day as opposed to being doused in preservatives and left on the shelf of a super market).I also have a soft spot for any farm that does apple picking and has an area dedicated to exploring. They've got a rather nice flower collection, a rustic area to eat (though it only has a fan on hotter days) and of course a hay ride. If you've got some time and are passing through Cumberland or just really would like some freshly backed Apple Crumb/ Blueberry Pie for a good price (last one cost me $12.50) you have to stop by.
I was in town with my husband while he was on business. I discovered this lovely little bakery/cafe and garden center thru tripadvisor. What a nice way to spend the morning sitting reading in their greenhouse with a good cup of coffee and an eccles cake (apples, raisins and raspberry in doughy goodness.) The pastry was so good I got another on my way out to have for later. I think it was the owner that I spoke to and she was friendly, helpful and offered some suggestions of other things to do while I was in the area. I would definately recommend Phantom Farms and I will definately go back when in town again.
Phantom Farms definitely has the best coffee and muffins in town, or in the general area, for that matter! I really enjoy visiting here when I'm back in Cumberland. If you go there when it's not too busy, it's a really relaxing place.Depending on the season, you might find various fruits and vegetables for sale on the front porch.Inside, where they sell, have I mentioned this yet? GREAT coffee and muffins, as well as other treats, there are also various gift items for purchase. On the opposite end is a somewhat indoor/partially outdoor seating area. I spent about an hour here last summer, just chilling out with an iced coffee. I was happy they even had soy milk instead of regular dairy milk! Better than Dunkin' Donuts, anyday. The gifts in the gift shop section are, in my opinion, a weentzy bit pricey/overpriced. Around the holidays, you can usually pre-order pies, like apple and something called "fruits of the forest," which is apples plus various berries. Pies are also not cheap, they've got to be pushing $20 each by now. It's been a few years since I've bought one there. While you can get them pre-baked, my favorite is buying their pre-assembled, but frozen pies. You put them in the oven yourself at home and aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh...........the bakery smell without the work! And, they're very good, too.I would not step foot in this place if it was during one of their events, however. I can understand why the previous reviewer was none too happy visiting here during an event. Often, when there's some kind of event, the traffic is insanity to the point that a Cumberland Police officer has to direct traffic out front. Go instead on a nice relaxing morning or afternoon, get a coffee, muffin and browse their items. Sit down, read the paper. It's a neat place when it's not mobbed.
They were having a chili cook off which sounds fun and was a free event- which is very nice of them. The place was a zoo, no order whatsoever. The persont hat one the chili cook off brought pulled pork- Um, hello- chili cook off- Human nature being what it is- people pushing and just walking all over. The gift/bake shop was the same- disorganized zoo. I wont be going back.
This is a great place for a coffee date with an old friend. Buy a pastry & coffee and on Wednesdays there is live music, I think other days too! Not a big place but a good variety!
