We biked the south part of the island one day and stopped at the animal farm. It was so much fun!! Especially for animal lovers! Got to feed and pet the animals. They have a zedonk named Cindy which was really cool to meet. She was actually one of the reasons we wanted to go.
A must stop if you have kids in tow. Typical and not so typical livestock on site, including a BISON! Fun for families or adults.
We were staying nearby so thought we would check it out. We are two adults and were impressed with the cleanliness and array of animals they have there. It had a fun petting zoo vibe and they also sell fresh (pesticide free) veggies there at reasonable prices. Check out this place.
Visiting the animal farm was a was a quick fun activity that left us pleasantly surprised by the array of animals that you don't normally see in New England. They had a yak, llama, ostrich, 4 horned sheep, and many others. This was a fun free activity on Block Island!
This hasn't changed in 20 years! I love the farm and the fact that they take such good care of the animals and it's free, just for anyone on the island to enjoy! Wonderful for kids & their parents!
With everything so $$$$$ on the island, it is great to go to something free. They do ask for donations to help with the upkeep and care of the animals. We had a very good visit and was great to relax and learn a bit about each of the animals that reside there.
A wonderful farm with very interesting animals. They seemed very well cared for, and definitely loved human company. Even got to feed them! Our favorites were the yak, zonkey, camel, lemurs, and adorable baby calves! If you love animals at all, you have to stop by! Great for families, couples, or anyone who wants to see up close some very interesting critters!
This farm is wonderful--very nice facilities and a large collection of somewhat exotic species make this a very fun stop (e.g., before going to the beach). It's just a few blocks from the ferry dock. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Every time we go to Block we stop here and check out the animals. They always have them in pairs, so no solo creatures to get lonely. It's interesting, good for all ages, and not a far walk from the shops and restaurants.
We love going to see the free attraction!! I love the variety of animals they care for here. You can feed them and pet them my personal fav is the Z donk, she has one eye but what a cool animal!! All the kids love to go here, my self included ;) make sure to see the place, it's very unique!!!
Stop by this wonderful spot on Block Island and enjoy an interesting family owned zoo. Justin Abrams, the owner, shares his love of animals with thousands of visitors each summer. There are kangaroos, camels, lemurs, African cranes, emus, alpacas, even a zedonk. These animals are his passion and he enjoys sharing his collection with visitors to Block Island. There is no charge to visit this spot, though there is feed for sale to give to the animals.
The animals come right up to you, beautiful property, you can visit the barn where they make the alpaca products. Lots of great information.
While we didn't actually visit the farm, it was right next door to where we stayed so we couldn't miss seeing all the animals! Or, hearing the rooster crow at 4:38 in the morning
I love the Manisses animal farm. The owners are really nice people who do a very good job of keeping up with the daily details of managing a working farm.Really a must see
went to a blessing of the animals - nice event to take your pet to. about 30 dogs or so and a cat came. i'm not religious, but it was cute and funny and it was nice to be able to have an event to bring our dog to
