DISCLAIMER: My review is based on my OWN personal experience and opinions ~~it has NO bias intent towards the company/business, the owners/managers or their employees. Please let YOUR OWN experience and views be your guide for enjoyment !!!!We stopped here on the way back from West Virginia visit one weekend and was very pleased. We found it on the internet and I wanted to go due to the historical factors and Noel wanted to go because of the ghost stories..Abraham Lincoln and his family actually slept here...and upstairs they have the LINCOLN ROOM..you can go upstairs and actually still sleep here..but you can also check out the rooms and the area..Very nice Very NICE..I loved it .The food was good..the rooms in the dining area was so fascinating to me..this was an actual stage coach inn back in the day..famous people walked these hard wood floors and drank ale in these rooms and ate their suppers here!! Too refreshments and fared away from the weather and rough travels of the older roads...AMAZING !!!!I love love love this !!!The food was really good..I enjoyed this experience!!!I would go again!I would highly recommend it!!YOU DEFINITELY have to check this place out and TAKE a FEW STEPS back into history...walk the steps that LINCOLN walked, and touch the handrails of the staircase he climbed..I am in AWE!!! ((( can you tell ???? ))))
The history of the location is worth checking out, without question. It's pretty much right in the center of the historical district. The service is fantastic but the food is nothing particularly to write home about. The menu is average at best.
I've heard great talk of this place so we came for dinner with some family and I was very disappointed. The prices are outrageous and I've had better school mashed potatoes! The country fried steak and sweet tea was good but everything else was on the low end of average. I would not be upset if I didn't return.
In the area on a distillery tour. We had been to Bardstown years ago, but were unable to come here. The tavern has a lot of history both true and folklore. The architecture is interesting for those seeking that type of visit. A lot of original construction still exists. The staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu. Had a Kentucky hot brown and salad for lunch. The sandwich was good and salad very fresh.
Lots of bourbon to choose from; and great live music. The crowd was lively, but not over the top. It was a nice way to end a day in the area.
We stopped in after dinner to have a drink and watch a game on TV. The bartender was so helpful and friendly. It was a quiet evening - but she made sure we were taken care of. A good ol' friendly tavern with a lot of history.
There isn't anything fancy about the bar area or the musicians that played there but the building and history behind it make it worth the stop for a pint or a drink!
It's a beautiful old place, with a rich history...There is a gift shop, a restaurant, and rooms to rent upstairs...If you're in town, don't just pass it by.
Took my Son & Daughter-in-Law to see the mural. Found that a fire had destroyed it in 1998! Supposedly they are restoring it --- I won't hold my breath! A lot of history here, but you wouldn't know it if you hadn't been in the past --- Lincoln, Jesse James, Ghosts --- Didn't even have any literature available! Can't really comment on the accommodations as I did not stay.
