There is no place like Torrent Falls anywhere in this part of the US! It is challenging, heart-pounding fun but at the same time it is safe. You get suited up and checked before you can scale the course. You also professional guidance on saftely precautions as well as instructions on how to use all of the gear. What an awesome adventure!

Our Boy Scout Troop went to Torrent Falls last weekend for a rock climbing and rappelling adventure. Overall, we had a great experience. The location is unique - a horseshoe-shaped cove - with multiple courses and difficulty levels. There's even a small waterfall that you can climb under. To top things off, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back!PS - See if you can find the garden gnome hidden on the course!

A group of us went for rock climbing for the first time. 2 were deathly afraid of heights, but wanted to proof to themselves that they could do it. We did the self-guided course. First was training with the trainers. Then off they went! There was 6 sections. Each getting harder. There was also a swinging bridge that they loved. You can come down between any of the sections and go back to any section as much as you would like. (I have MS, and my heat intolerance got the best of me during training and I had to stop. They were so nice. They waited until another training spot was in the shade and let me go to there.) Only 2 of the 12 were able to finish all 6 sections. My 28 year old son and my 51 old husband. lolEveryone is a fan of rock climbing now! Even the 2 with fear of heights!

I am deathly afraid of heights and just wanted to see if I could overcome it. I was ready to leave and get a refund after the first course because I was so extremely scared. I honestly thought I was going to have a panic attack on the side of the cliff. Luckily, I kept moving and things got very fun by the end of course 2. I didn't overcome my fear of heights but I would definitely recommend for anyone who likes a thrill and the outdoors because the scenery was beautiful. Probably not a could choice for a seasoned climber. There is also an awesome waterfall which I had the pleasure of seeing in action!

My husband took me here for my 40th birthday for a weekend of guided climbing and via ferrata. 2 words - SUPER FUN. Climbing - Our guide, Chase, was a very experienced climber, kind and it was fun to get know him. We climbed 4 routes at Muir Valley in the Bruise Brothers area. For some odd reason, no one else was climbing same area and so we got it to ourselves! A very special treat. Via Ferrata - Amazing adventure. There are 6 routes. My husband did 4 and I was able to do all 6! For us, first 3 were easy and then 4 required some upper arm strength. 5 and 6 were a little bit more technical. All routes were super fun. We were there from 10-2. We should have brought a picnic lunch but had to stick with energy bars. It was nice to do at your own pace. We can't wait to bring our kids! Since we have to travel far and fly, we are going to wait until they get my height of 5'2" so they have no constraints to do all 6 routes. I can see why this place is a Boy Scout haven!

I took a group of 15 boy scouts and adult leaders for the combined rappeling/climbing course. Everyone had a tremendous blast on the rocks, even the one who performed the checkout of his emergency gear! We spent almost 7 hours between the 2 activities. At least a couple boys weren't ready to leave yet, but it was getting to be supper time.We had a few boys with their rock climbing merit badges, but no 'real' rock climbers in our group, and the via ferrata was perfect. Very safe (if you followed their instructions), as you are always strapped in at least once, and almost always twice. Some of the boys only did the 2 easy sections, some made it through all 6, and only one of us fogeys made it past section 3 and through section 5. So quite the range of difficulty.Nicole was wonderful all through the planning experience, even helping guide us to the best campgrounds in the area for our group. Again, this is a really great way to experience rock climbing if you are just curious about it, and just looking for a day activity without all the $ outlay for gear.

I had never heard of Torrent Falls Climbing Adventure. We just returned from the Red River Gorge area and for at least some of us, the climbing adventure will be the highlight of the trip.Five of us signed up for the "combo package" with two rappels and the rest of the day on the "via ferrata". I'm 53, but my daughters, along with a son-in-law and a boyfriend, are all in their 20s. Isaac took the five of us, plus 2 other women in their 20s, to rappel for about 2 hours. He gave very clear, thorough instruction and was both patient and interesting. After rappelling, we learned to do the via ferrata course. This is on a big, semi-circular canyon with high rock faces. The entire course has rebar steps and handholds. And there is a strong wire cable with eyebolts about every 10 feet.The gist of it is that YOU do the climbing on the rebar grips, but you are always hooked to the cable by two straps with caribiners. When you come to an eyebolt, you move one caribiner to the next stretch of cable. Then you switch the other. So at every moment you are connect by at least one, and 99% of the time you are connected by both. You get the exhilirating (also exhausting) thrill of climbing high, steep rock faces with pretty-much guaranteed safety. The hand-holds and foot-holds are there for you. You are always strapped on . Sure, you could fall the 10 foot length of a cable plus the 2-foot strap hooking you to your caribiner, and you might get scratched, but you can't really fall "off" system.One daughter and her husband did all 6 stages--took around 3.5 to 4 hours. I just did two, but it was still fabulous.Let's face it: if you don't like heights this is not for you. And it IS tiring for a 53 year old, I can tell you. The climbing is hard work. But it was the chance of a lifetime--you don't get many opportunities to do something so "real" without most of the risk associated with such an activity.We also did the very-excellent Red River Gorge Zipline, just down the road. But if I only had $80 or so to spend, I'd come to Torrent Falls Climbing Adventure. It is safe, fun, and very "real". I recommend it very, very highly.

My 15-year old daughter and her friend did the Via Ferrata and had the time otheir life. They have never been rock climbing and this was perfect for them. The system that is used was easy for the girls to figure out and get used to very quickly. I was scared to death watching them at first but they quickly got the hang of it and they had so much fun!! The guides were wonderful and very encouraging. I would highly recommend this for first time climbers - it is the best!!!!!

Torrent Falls is an amazing thrill, especially if you haven't done any rock climbing ever before. They put you on a system of rock climbing called Via ferrata, where you have metal feet and hand rungs posted in the side of the cliff. The levels range from very easy to one that is somewhat of a challenge. The views are more than worth it! it's a once in a lifetime experience.

This was my first time climbing in gear and on a huge cliff face, and it was most certainly the most fun I've had in a long time. I felt safe the entire time even though I was on a cliff, the guide was fantastic, and the sense of accomplishment I felt after climbing the entire course was incredible. I highly recommend this course to ANYONE who is even remotely active and can walk up a hill. You may not be able to complete the whole course, most people can't, but even completing a few sections is an accomplishment. Whether you're out for a thrill or a nice little climb, this is the place for you. The staff was friendly and professional and made me feel very comfortable hanging from a cliff - if that says anything.

Torrent Falls was the first time I had ever been rock climbing, so I was a little scared. Our attendee, Daniel, was incredibly helpful and thoughtful; his confidence and support allowed me to get over my fears. He explained each little thing in clear, concise detail. This was incredibly useful to me.The course is laid out in a semi-circle, where you constantly climb in the same direction. The course continuously gets more and more difficult as you climb. This layout is perfect for beginners. The climbing style that these particular climbers use involves rungs that have been placed in the rock. Holding onto a couple rungs while hanging over a sheer cliff wall was an exhilarating experience. I had a blast. I think if I were to do it again I would be more comfortable and less scared. Maybe then would I tackle the "black diamond," the most difficult part of the course.

I have never been rock climbing before and going torrent falls was a great experience. I had a wonderful time. I learned how to properly rock climb. The equipment is checked frequently after every time you come down from the rocks. There is escape/ exit routes on the end of each section; total six sections with the black diamond. The sections get more challenging after the third section. I recommend Torrent Falls.

I love the experience very much. Daniels, the owner of the place, is very helpful. He shows us all the safety instruction and makes sure that we get it before we actually start climbing. I never do rock climbing before, but I did all 6.Make sure that you wear comfortable clothes and follow all the safety instruction. It will save you from pain and danger. It was very interesting to try to survive and ponder upon life!

This was my first rock-climbing experience, and it was truly an exhilarating experience! At Torrent Falls Climbing Adventure, a group of 18 colleagues and I signed waivers to climb Via Ferrata, a natural wall of sandstone that has been implanted with cables and iron handles upon which to grip and maneuver around. There were a few places of bare-handed/bare-footed climbing (without the assistance provided by the man-made structures), but these did not comprise the majority of the courses. Before the climbing actually began, we were all instructed how to properly put on the climbing gear by Daniel Wilkes. He provided clear directions and was very helpful in answering any questions we had in the process. Daniel also required that each of us practice using the gear properly on a “practice wall” before beginning the main courses. There were six courses in total that stretched around the stone wall, with breaking points in-between each course that allows the climber to return to the ground if necessary. The easiest course was the first, with each higher number becoming progressively more difficult. I did complete all six courses, but bear in mind that upper body strength IS necessary for the last three. Heed the caution signs regarding this matter, and be honest with yourself regarding your current athletic ability. I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience climbing here, and I HIGHLY recommend you spend time rock-climbing with this business when in the area. Come adventurous, and leave courageous.

Positioned in a quiet nook, this place offers a chance of some exciting rock climbing in a quite place save for the occasional passing vehicles, which aren't many.Our outfitter, Daniel, went through all requirements and prepped the climbers appropriately about security and the course which reassured us of the safety of the climb. The course is well planned and caters for both strong and moderate climbers. It is manageable for beginners too. The shop offers snacks, drinks, and souvenirs; they have a minimum chargeable amount on cards ($5). An area that needs to be improved on is restrooms and running water. They have only two outdoor potter potties and no running water to wash hands with. The climb experience is great.
