My sister and I did this while visiting Mammoth Cave. We brought our dog along on the river with us, which was fun until he jumped in a couple times. We did the Dennison to Green River Ferry. We went there on a slow day, so there were only 2 other groups. The people there were very nice and helpful with carrying canoes into the lake. The lake was very beautiful and quiet, but it got a little long for us. We didn't have much patience towards the end, but that's just us. At the end there was a group of guys waiting to take the canoes, all we had to do was get it on land and walk back to the car.
My fiancé and I did this and it was beautiful. We did the 7 mile one and had a blast. We seen turtles, ducks, and fish, plus so amazing dragonflies. Will def do it again when vacationing there again
Our family decided to choose this company to rent canoes from. The Mammoth Cave Canoeing and Kayaking offers the same service; same price. However, we chose the Green River Canoeing located at the entrance of Cave City. Our experience is similiar to the previous review. It seemed a little chaotic listening to our orders and safety measures quickly. We all get crammed into a van..which looked like the company didn't want to invest in any extras. The driver, had one goal in mind..to get us quickly to our destination..which was very nice of him...Afterall, he probably drives 15 people through up and down ATV terrain all day long. He drove very fast through the dangerous turns. Upon arrival of the Dennison Ferry we had to drop our canoes down a very steep hillside. if you can't lift the canoe yourself...you are in trouble. The driver is the only person there to help you..and he did work hard! ( maybe the company could hire another person to help him) We had our mother who could not lift a canoe; so that left one man trying to lift it himself. The river experience is awesome...can't beat it...We were all so thrilled to make the decision to canoe this river. After 3 hrs on the water; we easily found where to meet the company, not because of any marking(but because of the Ferry. We had ladies who told us not to worry if you couldn't make the incline walk up the ramp to carry your canoe..the company would have people there waiting. NOT! The Mammoth Cave Canoeing and Kayaking driver was waiting for his group; he actually helped us up the hill with our canoes. When our driver did arrive; it was not with any help....it was the same driver who took us. Fortunately, for him we didn't have to get his help! He is such a HARD WORKER! To our driver: Ask for help! Your tip bucket ask for a tip; but not change. Perhaps get your tip before everyone packs up...after paying $50 dollars a canoe $200 dollars spent by our family, our wallets were left in the trunk of our car...we didn't want to lose them in the water. This company receives an average rating ....excellent river canoeing, beautiful; company could have been a little easier to work with...gives its average ranking.
Check in was pretty backed up and a little disorganized, then 18 of us were packed into a15-passenger van. First impressions were not good! However, the equipment was in excellent condition and we were immediately picked up at the end of our trip. The other raft company's patrons waited much longer than us for a ride AND they must have shoved 25 people in their 15 passenger van! We did the Dennisons to Green River Ferry canoe trip and spent a little over 3 hours on the river. The scenery was beautiful and we found a shady spot to stop and play in the water. At the beginning of the trip there is a small cave to the left that you can actually canoe back into...definitely worth exploring! The flow of the river was pretty slow. In some places we actually had to paddle to keep moving. We were on the river Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend and it was surprisely not too crowded.
