This store needs a major re-work. Had not been there in over a year but nothing seemed to have changed. The owner is definitely quirky and interesting, but interest ends there. All the items are priced at very upper limits and entire store is dusty, dirty and just funky. Have been in dozens of antique stores over the years and this is at top of my worst list.
I purchased 4 items from this store. I used the layaway option. While my items were on layaway, I was transferred to another job within Kentucky. I talked with the owner of the store and she would not work with me on my purchase; she said that the furniture was owned by a vendor and he wanted his money. I asked if she could speak to the vendor but she said that it was not possible. When I went to pick up my furniture, the owner and another person helped carry my items out to the truck. They took one piece, a vanity, and wedged it between the bottom and top of the truck, stripping a couple of the screws holding the mirror on. I love antiques but I will not return to this store. Buyers beware.
This was a great place for me and my family to browse around. We are from Michigan and have been in a lot of antique stores but none have matched the charm and atmosphere of Magaline's. The own was very friendly and talkative. She was also very helpful when my son wanted to see an antique cap gun. Thanks for the great experience and true southern charm!!!
When you walk in your greeted by the owner, Magaline. She is dressed in old fashioned Victorian clothing and hat. Southern hospitality at its finest! Her store is chocked full of interesting things. While looking through the vast store I found a beautiful antique kettle that I had to have. Her store is one of several on their Heirloom Antique Trail. It was a fun day and Magaline made it so interesting. Cannot wait to visit again~
We had seen the signs on I-65 posted for Cave City being the "Antique Go-To" place. There were about 4 stores along the main street and this was one of them. The visit started with being greeted by Magaline who's Southern Hospitality was obvious. Generally, this store is nothing special. Almost flea market style - a lot of junk...down right junk, like general magazines, Christmas stuff, etc. I did have to do some rooting to find some interesting pieces, and I did haggle the price with Magaline as the prices were generally high. Overall - don't make a special trip - but If you are driving by, pop in, Magaline's greeting will make it worth the stop!
Sitting on a block of mostly closed antique stores, this store is an eye catcher. Inside, there is a wide variety of vintage and antique items, but they are at book or above book. I would think in a town starving for business, the prices would be better, but not so. Not worth the long drive from Louisville.
Magaline is just a down home lady with a flair for rare. She has a lot of everything. I've visited numerous times over the years and never fail to leave with something interesting or a rare find that I've searced for.
one of those "i didn't realize how big the inside would be by looking at the outside" kind of places. this shop is packed with lots of antiques and just fun old stuff. the prices are a bit high for most of the items but i am pretty sure they are very willing to negotiate. i am not one to haggle so i only spent $8 and actually bought 2 old whiskey bottles, 1 small brown medicine bottle, and a small vase. i would have spent much more if i had had the energy to haggle. the owners are an old sweet couple. magaline wears lots of makeup, fancy clothes, and a hat with a price tag on it. my teenage daughter loves places like this and it was hard to get her to leave. the place is closed on sunday as it seems most of everything in the area. i am not used to that, coming from new york city area, sunday is the best time to shop. we went there on a monday. there are also a few quaint shops and a bbq restaurant on the adjacent blocks.
