I remember coming to the park as a kid and enjoying it then. First trip back in 40+ years. Three generations, picnic, explore. Awesome! Beautiful, well-kept, informational. I wish the museum couldn't have been bigger and better lit, but we all enjoyed it.

I've been to this park many, many times over the years since I was a kid. The park is always very clean and there are many walking trails around the park. There is a putt-putt course but hours are limited. There is also a camp ground with facilities for RV's and tents. There is some really neat history here and you can read plaques that tell about what happened here during the Civil War. Definitely worth a trip. Beautiful views of the mighty Mississippi River.

This was our first trip to this campground. It is a small campground but plenty of room between camp sites. There is a lot of history of Civil War with this campground. Unfortunately we didn't take our "tow car" with us and I have knee problems so we were not able to get to some of the activities like miniature golf. Next time we take our car. The park is well manicured with park benches and swings to watch the barges on the Mississippi. You do have to pay for Wifi. No country store to buy things you may have forgot. You can get ice and wood. Highly recommend this campground.

This was our first camping trip to this park and we were very pleased. It is a small campground but there is adequate space between camp sites. Has beautiful views of the Mississippi. There are park benches and swings for people to sit and take in the tranquil sittings this park has to offer. We have a motorhome but we didn't take out tow vehicle with us. Since I was unable to take walks due to a bad leg we didn't get to see everything it has to offer. We will be back. We had a very relaxing 5 days.

A beautiful park, small but well worth the visit. The view of the river is wonderful and breathtaking. The vista is miles is both directions. The facilities are adequate and clean. Getting there requires driving on narrow roads, but all were well maintained.

We were pleasantly surprised at just how nice this park was maintained. It has the most beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Because there was a battle fought here during the Civil War, it has the chain and anchor preserved that was used by Confed. General Leonidas Polk to stop Union gunboats from sailing down the Mississippi to reinforce Memphis. There are still gun emplacements and rifle pits along with a restored bldg.,. If you don't care for Civil War history, just enjoy the wonderful walking trails and the serene setting, we did. It's a free attraction and has parking and restrooms available.

My husband & I took a 4 day motorcycle trip thru KY, IL, MO, AR, and TN. This park was our first planned stop. Prior to our departure I had contacted the park with several questions I had. The staff was prompt to reply and extremely courteous and helpful. Upon our arrival, I had a problem keeping some medication cool that I have to carry with me and the lady at the refreshment stand was very helpful in providing us with a little ice to hold us over till we could make our next stop. The day was dreadfully hot but we still were able to enjoy a game of miniature golf in the shade. We are looking forward to coming back in the fall to better enjoy more of what this park has to offer (museum, trails, view, ...)

Our visit to this site was great. The views of the Mississippi standing on the bluffs were wonderful. We watched barges moving up and down the river. There are signs along the walkway telling about the history of the river and different aspects of the battle fought there. There was a cannon that was found in the river along with the massive chain and anchor. The earthen works and trenches were still visible and maintained. A nice pavilion along the walkway were you could sit and watch the traffic on the river.We went to the museum. There is a cost, I think the cost was @$20 for the 4 of us. It is small, but very informative. I do wish that there was more on the use of the house as a hospital during the battle. It use to be the mayor of nearby Columbus before being used as a hospital.A small playground was a great addition for the grandchild. It also was well maintained.I was told by a friend that people come to this park to watch storms on the other side of the river. It certainly would be a great place to watch the weather.There is a cemetery on the way in and out that has many interesting headstones.

Decent park, must visit for civil war buffs. The 4.00 tour of the old hospital/mayors home is a must. Definitely a good place for a picnic...just be weary of the hornets/wasps in the picnic area and gazebo.

This state park, on the Mississippi River, is the site of one of the early Civil War battles. There are artifacts around the park,including a part of the chain that was strung the river. Take a walk through the earthen works and marvel at the labor that had to have ensued to build these forts. There's also a small museum on site, although it wasn't open the day I visited.

I visited Columbus Belmont on a rainy weekend in April. It is a beautiful park with a lot of wonderful views from the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. There are plenty of picnic tables and pavilions for picnics. The signs placed throughout the park tell the story of the Civil War battle (fought mostly across the river in Belmont, Missouri). There are also a few canons on display of the type that would have been there in the war.There is a museum in the park which looked interesting but was, unfortuneately closed during my visit. The park website says that it is supposed to be open after March 31 but the people in the campground said they thought that it would not open until May. Unless you are visiting in the summer, you may want to call the park to see when the museum opens.

We traveled from Sevierville, Tennessee to Columbus-Belmont State Park towing our 27 foot travel trailer. This campground, though small, was one of the nicest we've ever stayed in. The campsites, with full hookups, were the largest we've ever seen. We were literally perched on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The campground lies between two sets of trenches dug but troops in the Civil War allowing for lots of exploration. We were adjacent to the Park itself which boasted a very large anchor and chain which was a portion of that which strung across the river to prevent union gunboats from passing. May examples of cannon and historical markers were noted. A small but interesting museum was well worth the time to discover what had happened here during the war. We will be back. This qualifies as the best campground we've had the privilege to stay at.

This is a nice state park right on the Mississippi River. There is quite a bit of Civil War history. The picnic facilities are adequate.

Columbus-Belmont State Park is about 20 miles from my home, and I have visited there many times. This is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The Mississippi River is beautiful when observed from the many bluffs in the park. Columbus-Belmont is a part of Civil War history. This is where the confederates put a huge iron chain across the Mississippi to prevent Federal boating traffic. There is also a Civil War Museum in the park, and some of the oldest cemeteries you will find. It's a great place to visit.

Take the time to visit this park. I know it's a little out of the way for most, but we've been there several times now and always find something new. From nice pinic and play areas, to a great view over the Missippi, to some incredible history, nature abound and enjoyable trails. We'll continue to go back.
