Daniel Boone's grave; lovely view of State Capital; very interesting monument to soldiers... Well-kept cemetery is a great place to just get away... Worth one's time... Saw one person sitting on a wall looking down at city center while reading a book and eating lunch... Wish I had thought of that...
Have visited the cemetery several times over the last year. Now have returned to share with my adult daughter and her husband. Learning so much about Daniel Boone from the monument at his grave site. Never would have believed that he lived into his 80's was remarkable. Just walking the property seeing all the family plots and comments on grave stones is amazing. Also the view overlooking Frankfort and the Kentucky River with the Capital building in the background is a great location for snapping pictures. This is a must in American history lessons.
One of my favorite places around Frankfort! The view of our capitol from Daniel Boone's grave is spectacular! It's a great place for photos and stretching your legs. The trees are gorgeous year round and lots of them are labeled for identification. Highly recommend for families with young children, couples and solos. And don't be surprised if you run into deer and foxes along the path!
If you like history in cemeteries, this is an interesting place. If not...don't bother. Had some beautiful old stones and there's an outstanding view from Daniel Boone's stone overlooking the Tennessee River and the town beyond.
It's beautiful, peaceful and quiet. It has beautiful overviews of Frankfort, and you can learn a lot from reading gravestones about history and about people.
We drove through because of Daniel Boone and heard the best view to see the Capitol building is from the cemetery. Interesting monuments and trees. We always feel relaxed taking in the views at a cemetery.
Lots of old headstones. Pretty view of the capitol. Nice to see Daniel & Rebecca Boone gravesite. A recent addition - Memorial to the unborn. Lots of history.
Daniel Boone's grave was very exciting to see, especially seeing the best view of Frankfort. I would recommend to everyone to at least stop by and see it.
This short stop at Daniel and Rebecca Boone's grave had a magnificent view across the Kentucky River to the State Capitol Building. Cool, quiet and shady, a calm interval.
There is a great view of the capitol from Daniel Boone's grave sight. Lots of history. Worth a quick visit.
Neat to see Daniel & Rebecca Boone's burial site, and also the Memorial to the Unborn. Very pro-life which was cool!
Was a nice place to visit. It was a very pretty site to stand at D. Boone's gravesite in the sunshine and look out over the river and see the capital building. Will visit again for the peaceful feeling of this place. Also amazed to see the memorial for the unborn--they are all to often forgotten about.
A very well manicured cemetery. Lots of historic graves and if you look hard enough you will find Daniel Boone's grave.
The cemetery sits high on the hill overlooking the city, the Kentucky river and the capital building. Many former governors and public figured are interred here as well as our most famous character...Daniel Boone and his wife Rebecca. The famous artist Paul Sawyer is resting just a short distance away. The DAR area hold the oldest graves I have located to date, with one gentleman born here in 1718. He fought in the Revolutionary War and died several years later. There has been some damage to some old stones from storm damage, which is being repaired as soon as possible. And there is some that were the result of vandals who climbed the fence. The trees are large and beautiful, the view is wonderful, and the history is present throughout. It's all worth a quiet walk through, whether you are a local or a traveler.
I live in Frankfort and love to walk here. Lots of lovely old trees. Overlook of downtown Frankfort, the Capitol, and the Kentucky River.
