washington visitors center

Our tour guide Joyce did a wonderful job at giving us a tour of the old town and three historic houses. This is a small town started in the late 1700's and is full of history and restored buildings. This is off the beaten path but while you are in Northern KY you should visit this area.

The Washington Visitors Center is in Old Washington, a historic district of Maysville, Ky. It is located in the Paxton House, original home of James Paxton, an attorney, who had the home built for him in the early 1800's. It was renovated within the last 10 years. Has beautiful wood floors, molding around the floors and ceilings, beautiful entranceway with staircase going up to the second floor. The Center has a nice gift shop and a room for viewing a video that tells the history of Old Washington. Tours of the district are available from the Center. Alovely town full of history!!
