Visiting the miniature exhibit was the primary purpose of our visit to Maysville. It is outstanding. My wife is a dollhouse enthusiast and found the exhibit to be the most impressive display of miniatures that she has ever seen. Mrs. Browning happened to be at the exhibit on the day we visited, and she spent a good deal of time with us explaining the background of several of the exhibits. The local history section was also very interesting. We will definitely return!

This museum is fascinating. I grew up in Maysville, but hadn't toured there since the new edition was created. I was very impressed with the quality of the miniatures collection, especially the home of Princess Diana, the Russell Theater, and the Kilgus Drug Store. The museum reserves a room for traveling exhibits. The latest exhibit "Hats" featured a variety of hats from the past to browse along with an informative video.I enjoyed revisiting the original museum. A visitor can spend hours browsing all of the wonderful displays and facts presented about the prehistoric peoples, pioneers, and settlers who inhabited Kentucky. There are older maps and portraits in the genealogy library upstairs that are not to be missed. If you are interested in researching your family tree this is the place for it.A note- no photography is permitted inside the building. Students only have pay a $2.00 admission fee. Seniors get a $2 discounted admission. All in all, this is a must see for Maysville visitors and residents!!!! Bravo!!!

A trip to the KSB miniature exhibit is worth time and travel from anywhere in the world! This is the most awesome display of miniatures ANYWHERE! I have been many times and still I see something different with each visit. I highly recommend a visit here.

If we lived closer, I'd get a membership. One visit for $10 seemed a little steep at first, but the side room of miniatures made it worth the price. The original building was a library and it kept the authentic feel with some very interesting artifacts. Another room in the addition was for changing exhibits. We were there on a Saturday and the man who owned the collection was there to tell us all about it. He was a wealth of information. The lady at the desk was also very interesting. It was obvious that she loved sharing stories and her knowledge of the place.

I have been to the research library at the KY Gateway Museum, but did not tour the museum until last week. I was very impressed by the exhibits on the Lexington-Maysville Turnpike and the wonderful miniature collection. It was thoroughly enjoyable. My 13 year old granddaughter was captivated by the miniatures and had to look at everyone of them very closely.I also have to commend Maysville on the wonderful research library on the second floor of the museum. The staff is exceptional in providing help to those who are researching their family tree. This is just a really great place to visit.

Most reviews will tell of the wonderful miniature collection, but I want to sing the praises of the genealogy library on the upper floor of this museum, and of the remarkably generous and expert help the staff gives to visitors and regular users alike. There are local and regional materials here that you may not be able to find anywhere else. We, for example, were thrilled to find the 19th Century birth, baptismal and marriage records of Maysville's St. Patrick's parish, material that may be the best (or only) help you will get in tracing Irish ancestors with very common last and first names. Since Maysville was an extremely important place during several migrations West, this library is a treasure trove.
