There's so many great things to at Kentucky Lake and the Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area (NFS). Boating, skiing, fishing, hunting (in season) hiking, camping, off-roading, nature-watching, horseback riding. A wonderful place for a family vacation or a weekend getaway for two.
We have a lake home on Ky lake in the paris landing area. You will love Ky lake. There are lots of floating bars and restaurants to have fun while you are on the water!! Its large with lots of fun!!
Dirty lake, dingy water, poor fishing and expensive out of state license costs makes Kentucky Lake a great place to stay far away from. Even the local gripe about the poor fishing. $40.00 each for a week fishing license-------we opted out of that expense and caught as many fish as anyone we saw fishing in the lake--not one, and we camped on the shore of the lake. Talked with locals when they came in from boat ramp and not one caught anything in a eight day visit. Now that's bad fishing!
I am a regular at Kentucky Lake. You have to check it out. The boating and fishing is amazing. Head over to Smith Bay, or visit one of the many restaurants on the water. Great place to Vacation.
This is a great place if you like the outdoors. Plenty of places to camp, fish, boat and unwind. Lots of different things to do during the summer. I recommend you visit the web site to see what is going on. This is not the place to go if you are wanting Restaurants or shopping.
Huge lake, lots to explore, great people. Enjoy the outdoors! Boating and fishing are awesome. Lots to see and do off the lake as well. LBL and historic sites. Visit Paris and Murray. Camp, hike, bike.
So much to see and do - this is the biggest reason I left Memphis, my home for 41 years, to live in this part of Kentucky. Beautiful nature abounds. A visit to this area will never disappoint.
Always beautiful views on the lake, no matter what season it is! Great 4th of July display down by the dam. Always a good family time spent on the lake and good fishing, whichever you prefer.
The lake is a beautiful place! Just be careful where you go and make sure you know a little about that area. KY and Barkley Lakes are so large, there are differences in where you choose to go. Regardless, you need to check out Land Between the Lakes. This is one of the prides of Western Kentucky!
We spent a extended weekend here over this past summer and it was a blast. The lake it's self is big and has plenty of water attractions to do. We stayed with family who lives right on the lake so we were able to use the boating dock to get in and out of the lake. We fished, boated, swam, sun bathed and floated around and collected small snail shells on the beach. ( kids idea lol)
In a word....AWESOME!!! We spend up to 3 or 4 days a week on this lake! Some of the best fishing ever. It's also located just minutes from the Land Between the Lakes where you'll find lots of fun things to do (many for free or really cheap). Great swimming, camping, sight seeing, etc. Make sure you plan a trip to Patties 1880's Settlement for dinner...only a half hour drive and you won't be disappointed. Their specialty is their 2 inch pork chops....they've won many awards and its all located in a small village packed with lots of shops and things to do! A trip to Kentucky Lake is sure to be loaded with many wonderful memories!
You will not run out of water to boat on. A lot of history surrounding how the lake got there in the first place. We took a boat ride up to the dam big dam. Make sure to follow the channel markers. Luckily our resort host warned us that there are places that are very shallow and you may hit the foundation of an old house or building. I also invested in a new fish finder with navigation. You can survive without it but seemed like a good excuse to get the fish finder I wanted. Sorry hun.
We rented a pontoon and traveled around the lake. We stopped at a local marina for lunch. This outing was one of the highlights of our family reunion!
Ken-Bar Lodge is a great place for fisherman. The rooms are nice and clean, great food and outlets to charge your boat batteries. They give great discounts for club tournaments and other groups and the food is made just for your group. I really enjoy staying there.
Rather boring unless you fish, but we did see both elk and buffalo. The gift shops had some interesting items for sale.
