Yellow Creek Park is my favorite local park to go for a hike. It is a multi-use park that starts out with ball fields for local leagues, but keep driving. The back part of the park features the following:-a pond for free fishing that doesn't require a licence-a fun and challenging disc golf course-multiple playgrounds and a splash park for kids-barbeque and picnic facilities-fantastic trails-a giant open field for flying kites or working with dogsThe walking trail is phenomenal. It's covered in mulch, there are multiple, easy to navigate trails. It's very scenic, with bridges and challenging for joggers. I can't reiterate how pretty the trails are in the spring and fall. One helpful tip: it does hold a little water after a fresh rain in the lower parts of the part. Keep that in mind.
This park is a GREAT spot for the family. Well maintained playgrounds, a lake, trails, covered bridges, pavilions to reserve, old cabins, etc - it's BEAUTIFUL in the fall!! My daughters (2 and 5) beg to go all the time.
This is a better park for a quite picnic or fish. This park is very large. And there is plenty of space between activities. There's basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, lake, trails, disc golf, several play ground area, spray park, several enclosures for group gatherings, interesting features such as the bird rescue, oldest school house in west Kentucky, train, cabin and barn. Only downfall is the park is kind of gross at times bathroom always flooded and trash in lake.
Very beautiful park with great facilities. Located only a few miles from downtown Owensboro, this park offered a great area for stage viewing, workshops and camping.
YCP has miles of hiking trails, a spray park, a pond, picnic areas, a playground, and wide open spaces. It is also home to Western Kentucky Raptor Center. You can view the educational birds onsite in the display mews located in the park. These are near the train by the entrance. You can walk your dog on a leash along the many trails. There is a pioneer village to explore. There is a bridge over a stream that is open to foot traffic.YCP is a relaxing venue with many activities for the family.
We took our granddaughter here to play on the swings, etc. Enjoyed a leisurely walk around the lake and fed the ducks. Several areas of swings etc. for the kids to enjoy plus an 18 hole disc golf course. Terrific place to spend a relaxing afternoon.
