This is close by our home so we visit with some frequency. They've added a weekend dinner menu and Sunday sales over the past several months. There is live music every weekend and very good crowds. The food is good to very good as is the wine. Both can be pricey depending on what you order. The biggest issue comes with the system of ordering food and service. The order is placed at one spot; you're given a number; and, the wait staff has to find you. If there's a big crowd, it can take a while. That's especially true in the warm months when crowds are inside and out. That said, it's a gorgeous place everyone should try.

We had trouble finding the place once off of the highway. Mentioned it to the server and she said "if people are too stupid to find it, we don't want them here" - NO KIDDING! Ran out of food. Had to take the bottle from the Groupon package home and could not drink it there - Whaaaaaaa????? Ran out of food and took over an hour to get the food that we ordered. It is a very pretty place but parking was awful.

The cafe attached to the sprawling Elk Creek Vineyards came highly recommended to me, so I was eager to give it a try. The winery is not very well sign-posted once you get off the highway, and the vineyard has several buildings around the property, so we were not too sure we had arrived at the right one.We entered the building, still a little unsure we were in the right place, and there was no hostess to greet us, and the employees seemed to be in deep discussion at the bar. A little embarrassed, I had to cut in on their conversation to ask if we could sit anywhere or if we needed to be seated. Turns out there is no table service during the week, but the cafe switches gears at the weekend to offer table side service. Weekdays, you order from a deli counter in the gift shop, and they bring it to the table when it's ready. It is basic sandwich fare with poshed up ingredients. I got a grilled cheese sandwich made with Gouda, Swiss, Havarti, Roma tomatoes and fresh basil on flatbread, and a side of pasta salad. Food is served on plastic tableware - which for me is a definite turnoff. My husband, who was driving, opted for soda, but a friend and I got a flight of wine with our meals. You can choose five tastings (1 oz pours) from around 15 wines for $6, or $9 for the more elite wines in their collection. They were alright; a couple of them were better than others.Would I return? Probably not. The winery is off the beaten path and while the atmosphere is nice and someone has obviously sunk a lot of cash into this venture, overall the food was just average and the experience unremarkable.

The winery is a beautiful, very impressive facility. The wine is good but a bit overpriced compared to other wineries we've visited. We took the tour of the winery, which only takes about 20 minutes and is very informative, and you get to see the wine cellars below. There are 3 different accommodations: the Estates are more like traditional motel-type rooms, while in the Lodge and the Inn you have your own bedroom with TV but you share a bathroom, living room, and kitchen with the other residents of the building, which was a little weird for me, although we did have good conversations with other guests both nights we stayed in the Inn. The place was very clean and the bed very comfortable, and the free breakfast at the winery was excellent-- they had quiche both days, as well as bagels, muffins, and do-it-yourself French toast. The views of the countryside are quite nice, too. On the weekends they also have live music. I think this would be a good place for 3 or 4 couples to rent out the Inn or the Lodge and spend the weekend together, or as a retreat for a small corporate group.

I purchased a Groupon for the Elk Creek winery and was more than impressed with our visit and all the staff as well... I had originally booked the estates but then read the reviews and decided to call back and book a room in the lodge and so glad we did.. We stayed in the master suite and was impressed with the room.., very clean as well decorated... Bed was very comfy! I recommend the lodge as the place to stay.. Once we arrived and got checked in we went to the winery to sample wines, only qualm I have their flights are a bit pricey to sample.. Took a tour of the winery as well then had a nice prime rib dinner as well.. I am already planning a return trip back...

We stayed in the lodge for our trip. We really enjoyed it! The lodge and the facilities were really well cared for. The continental breakfast was surprisingly good with a lot to offer. With your stay you get a very generous cheese and cracker plate that went really great with our wine. We had the more expensive flight and we did the $6 tasting and the pours were generous and the wine was great. The view from the deck overlooking the vineyard was beautiful, a very relaxing place to enjoy wine and cheese. Our room in the lodge was lovely and very clean. There was a French press in our room for us! The view from our balcony was also lovely. The lodge itself was very nice with lots of areas to sit and enjoy TV or just hang out. There was a fireplace out back with wood. The only complaints we had were that some of the staff members weren't as helpful as they could have been. When we checked in, it wasn't explained to us where the breakfast would be or even how to get into the lodge after it was locked up. Through exploring on our own, however, we figured it uout. The tour guide was also not very exciting or knowledgable, but we still enjoyed our visit very much and would definitely recommend it to others! Just ask the staff questions, because things weren't explained thoroughly to us.

I am a top 3% TA reviewer. I have thought about this review and I still can't place my finger on what is missing at Elk Creek Winery? Perhaps this is why some if the reviews break up the review in sections: lodging, food, wine. All are average and nothing to write home about. As well as the prices are on the higher side for all three. None of the three will blow you away. So what's missing? Customer service? Management? Location? Don't get me wrong it us enjoyable and worth a visit, you won't spend no more than a weekend or two days total! Will go back with friends again but not for quite sometime. I just kept thinking the whole time what I would do to improve upon a beautiful location and a great concept, but missing something!

When I booked a night at the lodge with a Groupon the reviews were all over the place. We stayed at the lodge in room #4. The room was nice and clean and roomy. The lodge was very nice but I can see where it can be noisy to people in their rooms when there are other guests in the common areas, but overall it was not a problem. My only complaints would be that for the breakfast you have to go to the winery, which is not far, but still an upgrade to add breakfast in the lodge would have been nice. My main complaint would be the signage at the properties, There are three properties that house guests, and to get to the lodge was very difficult. They need to place SIGNS showing EXACTLTY where to go . All of the residents at the lodge that night all had the same comments about how difficult it is to find the road to the lodge. Other than that the staff at all of the properties (winery, lodge, trap shoot lodge) were all very welcoming.

Used a Groupon, for a "Food and Wine" excursion for 4. I knew going in that the limit per person was 9.99, so no issue there. We stood around for 15-20 minutes... No one approached us... I had to approach someone for help.. And that's fine, except no other customers were there, but us four ladies. We let them know immediately about the groupon, and at that point the limits were clearly set in place.. You could tell a difference, in attitude. The sandwiches were very good, I had the prime rib sandwich, my friends had the Elk Creek sub, and roast beef. Our server outside was very sweet. We we're all more than pleased, with lunch. So we went back inside, and I stood.... Again.... 3 people on phones.. A worker on break.. Ok fine...Still waiting.. Then finally, a young lady asked us if she could help, we paid extra for the tasting, another 30 dollars.. It wasn't included, I knew that. Did the tasting.. Not much was explained.. We just assumed what we already knew about certain varietals in the area..... The group job did include 2 bottles if wine, up to 20.00 each, and 4 glasses. No biggie, right? Well, most of the good wine is well over that price, so you will get the choices 15.99 and under...and there is tax (it's not included)All in all, it WAS a lovely place, gorgeous views, great sandwiches, BUT... If you are going to promote your business, using discounts, coupons, etc. Well you should expect that those people want what they paid for.. And be helpful in any way.. I didn't mind paying for a few extras....that's not the point. But I felt like the staff was bothered, busy, or put out...Other than that.. No issues. I want to give it a 3.5 .. But I can't. So I'm giving it a 3... Only because, to me, service, attitude, and helpfulness, are most important to me. Maybe it was an off day.. I'm not sure. Would I try it again? I'll have to think about that.

I think this was the 4th visit to Elk Creek, Wines of all types to please any taste, and a good deli for light lunches. Nice facility from the tasting room to the outdoor deck which has great views. Elk Creek has lodging, special event capabilities and outdoor activities on a fairly regular basis during the Spring and Summer including top name entertainment at the outdoor amphitheater. A nice venue and a pleasant drive, 30 minutes from Kentucky Speedway.

I bought the group on dinner for 4. I paid $49.99 for $107 value. When we got to the winery, there were only 2 meals to choose from and both just happened to be over the $9.99 limit per person. I showed them the groupon and they stopped me as I was walking away to say we had overages of $50+ for the meals. So let's see.. I paid $49.99 for the groupon and paid an addl $50+ in overages.. Then instead of the 2 bottles of wine valued at $20 each.. They allowed me 1 bottle valued at $16.00. And instead of the 4 wine glasses.. I got 2. This is not a deal as they state. You basically are paying $49.99 which covers 2 dinners and a bottle of wine. And we ordered a meal to go for my son and it was brought out 2 hours before we left.

Great instructor, beautiful setting for shooting and friendly staff. Jennifer was a great help in organizing our company outing. We had that much fun that we already booked another day to come back. 13 people in the last group this time 12.

Note: I reviewed our stay at the lodge separately was it was a totally awesome experience. Tour seemed thew together and not well thought out. Seeing the bottling line was probably the most interesting part. When it came time to taste we realized it wasn't including the in the package (huh?) When we asked for recommendation our tour guide mentioned she had only be drinking wine a few months and wasn't really sure about what to recommend that we should try them all...Ok? We tried one of the flights and it was not good, should've read the reviews on here first.

We traveled from Louisville, approx an hour drive. The winery is in a beautiful lodge with an outside deck. The tasting was very informative. We enjoyed a Reisling wine. They also have a tour. There is music on the weekend. There is also a cafe inside the winery which is very good. I vCard would recommend it highly.

We purchased a groupon for a dinner/wine package for two for $25. The groupon indicated to call first for availability. Since we are two hours away, we called on Memorial Day to verify that they were opened and if there was availablity. The girl that took my call indicated that they were opened from 12:00 until 5:00 with plenty of availability, no need to reserve. When we arrived, to our surprise, the deli was closed due to being out of food. We then proceeded over to the wine bar to purchase some wine. As we stood, no one seemed to want to wait on us. After a while, a girl came up and asked us which wine we were now on (for a tasting) we indicated that we had not been waited on. She apologized and we told her that we had a groupon to which she indicated that the deli was closed due to running out of food. She then offered us a bottle of wine to drink on site and then a bottle up to $19.98 to take home for the groupon. We ended up with a bottle to drink on site that cost $11.99 and had to pay an additional three dollars for the wine that we purchased which was $16.99. We enjoyed oyster crackers as our meal. Never again will we visit Elk Creek again. Groupon is a rip-off and the staff was very rude.
