It is just a small winery, which offers a lovely view of the vineyard. They have music on Saturday nights and it would be worth checking out. The wine tasting was 5.00 a piece and the wines seemed reasonably priced. The owners were very nice, and the wines are all great. It is hard just to pick one. I bought the blueberry wine and it was great..
Thank goodness for GPS (and the sign on I-65) for helping me find this nice place. A friendly dog greeted me as I came in, and the server was friendly as well. The wines I sampled were all good, but I settled for the popular Diamond and the unusual Cherry Cordial with a hint of chocolate. Worth the drive off the interstate.
Visiting from Arizona to celebrate my husbands mothers 80th Birthday. Had to take our time for surprise party. Relatives live very close to winery. We were told by family to stop at winery. We were greeted by Sandy, the owner. Her husband greeted us a few minutes later. Both were very nice and spoke about Arizona and our wineries. My husband and I did wine tasting (our very first). Both Jim and Sandy told us about their wines and the process. Tasted some great wines. Enjoyed the hospitality. Bought 3 bottles of wine and one bottle garlic olive oil. We will be back our next visit to Kentucky. Thank you so very much.
I visited this winery with my mother-in-law during a recent trip to KY. At first, I thought we were driving down someone's driveway, espeiclally when their dog greeted us! The wines were very good. There was a tasting fee of a few dollars, but we got to sample a lot of wine. My favorite was Amy's Apple pie. I found out later that when you add a splash of Jim Beam Fire (cinnamon), it is out of this world! This place is definitely worth the visit. It was my favorite visited during this trip.
After an enjoyable afternoon at the Wine Fest we decided to visit some of the local wineries. And Wight -Meyer was definitely a very good place to visit. Beautiful location. Our hostess was very knowledgeable about the wines and the place was very comfortable and inviting. We were even greeted by a very sweet dog that spent some time lying next to our table while we were participating in our tasting. For $5 each you get to sample six wines and keep your glass. They had several nice wines and it was hard to choose one to purchase. My favorite was the sweet red raspberry.Their gift shop area contains many cute wine related items at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Tucked into a quiet neighborhood is a cozy little winery with a lot of charm. Our friendly hostess was very polite and educated on the wine selection and the wine-making process. The wine cheese dip was delicious and fortunately they had it available to purchase. They had an excellent selection of wines including their own Diamond wine- a sweet white wine with a unique and delicious taste. The pairing of their homemade cheeses and chocolate selections were impeccable. And their cherry cordial wine tasted just like one!
My friends and I had a wonderful time visiting this winery. The wines were tasty, the service friendly and the dog was a sweetheart. They also have great little gift items there. It was hard for me to choose only one wine to purchase, but I went for Lissa Sangria. You also get to keep the glass when you pay for the wine tasting. Make sure you get the cheese tray too. It is a little off the beaten path, but it's a lovely drive.
This is my favorite winery to visit when I come to Kentucky! The owners are just the nicest people on the planet and will definitely aim to please when it comes to making your wine tasting the best experience it can be!
I've been here 3 times now. Cheese spreads & crackers, great wines, music, seating on the patio, & a really sweet, friendly, winery dog. My favorite wines: Diamond, Pine Creek Summer, and Concord. Check their website for the upcoming musical nights!
For a small tasting fee you get to try all of their wines, not just a few like most wineries. Diamond and Sassy Blush are our favorites, but wouldn't pass up a glass of any of them. Nice place for a break when doing the burbon trail.
Wight-Meyer Winery is off the beaten path, but not that difficult to get to. It was just a short distance from I65. This was my first visit and I found it very charming. It is just a small winery, but looked to be in the process of expanding the outdoor seating area, which offers a lovely view of the vineyard. I think they have music on Saturday nights and it would be worth checking out. The wine tasting was 5.00 a piece and the wines seemed reasonably priced. The owners were very nice and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. What a wonderful atmosphere; definitely worth a return visit!
We were on our way back to Indiana from Alabama on 8/2/12,and decided to stop at a winery. They were very nice. She said that they have been open for 5 years. Free tasting of 5 wines. VERY GOOD! We bought the Amy's Apple Pie Wine to bring home to enjoy again. The Diamond Wine is very good also. If you like Raspberry, try the Sweet Red Raspberry Wine. It's a bit off the highway though. I wasn't sure if we had missed the turn until we saw their next sign. When we turned in, we had to drive on a somewhat narrow, newly paved road. Luckily we didn't meet anyone coming the other direction. When we did see the next sign, it said that the winery was at the next right. It wasn't, it was where that sign was at. So, don't keep going, turn in there. It's a rock road by some houses, and they are back behind them.
We visited on a Sunday. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by a well behaved dog. Looked around at the wine selection (which is reasonably priced) then decided to sit down for a tasting. Bridget, the woman working, was attentive and friendly. All four of us were able to find a wine we liked to purchase. There was a newspaper article on the wall highlighting how the owners worked to make their dream of owning and operating a winery come true... I found that very interesting! I wish I had visited during the week in order to meet them (assuming that is when they are around.). Overall, a great place but would have been more interesting to hear a little history of the vineyard/winery while we were there.
I really enjoyed Wight-Meyer. Not only were several of their wines tasty, but the space was lovely and the woman helping us was friendly and knowledgeable. We went on a Sunday, and tastings were complimentary for up to 6 wines. We bought a bottle for $11.99, which was very reasonable. Great local winery.
