jack jouett house historic site

This was was very interesting & fun. The caretaker was very informative & knowledgeable. The house is excellently restored. Well worth checking out it is free but donations are excepted. I was very glad it popped up on Tripadverisor. The whole family enjoyed it.

This site was the home of revolutionary war hero Captain Jack Jouett. Captain Jouett rode his horse over forty miles through the rough wilderness to warn Thomas Jefferson and other American Revolutionary leaders of a plot by the British to capture them. One of Captain Jouett's sons is the famous portrait artist Matthew Harris Jouett. Several of his paintings are displayed in the house which you may view on the tour. Since Jouett was one of my ancestors it made the tour very entertaining and interesting for me. I would recommend this site for anyone who is interested in the history of our country and the true heroes of the American Revolution. No fee for the tour!!!

this visit was fun and i learned a lot abut the civil war and the the are of Versailles. I don't want to give a lot away by this review. this was a lot of fun, very personal I notice that a lot of the facts were geared around things that interested me the most. also I loved that it was free.
