If your looking for a book this is the place to visit. This book store is stocked better than a lot of libraries I have been to. The owner really knows her stuff. If she doesn't have the book you want she knows where to find it.
Floor to ceiling books upstairs and down. Couldn't spend a lot of time there but it was a treat to go and purchase some books and know the store exists.
On my fifth trip across Montana in the last nine months, I decided to stop in the little town of Alberton, just before my regular overnight stay in Superior. I do not know why I chose to stop this time, but it was well with it. Driving through the town of about a dozen commercial and government buildings, you immediately notice the Montana Valley Book Store. Built in 1910 and added onto in 1915 and 1925, this iconic false front true architecture of the American West stands out and is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. It started life as a butcher shop, meat market then grocery store and it's first addition included space for the Masonic Lodge to meet. Since 1976 it has serves a larger community of readers with it's inventory of over 150,000 books both imprint and many out of print titles. There are three floors of Hardbound, paperbacks, audio books and some video titles. Take some time off the freeway and find a good book to read. On this trip my wife and daughter were following behind me by a couple of days and they stopped also.
