custer battlefield museum

We decided to listen to advice on TA about stopping here first, and I think it opened our eyes to a few things we may not have picked up on at the Nat'l Park.First there is a Nat Geo film, same film is shown at the Park, so if you skip it here...well, don't...it helps you understand the collection they have here. Enjoyed a collection of portraits of the Native American leaders, and the collection from the battle.Paying a small entrance fee should be considered a privilege to help support this museum.

I really enjoyed touring this museum. I must say that I am not a fan of paying for museums, since I lived in DC for years and became used to touring for free. However, 15.00 dollars for the 2 of us was a bargain. The exhibits were carefully crafted and having an Intern to answer questions was a bonus. Very interesting and well worth the time.Afterwards, we drove through the Battlefield tour. It was a great combination. Actually, there is a restroom in the museum.

This was interesting to see where the big Indian fight took place and they kicked butt. Museum was pretty good and very informative.

An interesting museum which was well put together and contained some interesting artifacts. You could spend quite a long time, a few hours looking at the exhibits. I thought a visit to the museum is worth doing before going to the battlefield. The shop was pricey, beware some of the products are made in Thailand, Pakistan, China etc although they look to be of native origin...the price will be an indicator! You can get the books on the internet for half the price so don't be tempted to spend top dollar on the books.

No real point in this. Mostly over priced made in China look a-like stuff for sale. Rest room is an outdoor porta-potty!Museum, priced at $7.50 per head, is laughable. Mostly just poorly displayed photographs.The only saving grace is the GOOD coffee at the neighboring Subway.Skip it and go to the next exit for the real deal.

The number of markers in the ground where soldiers died is very sobering. The graveyard. My husband is a history buff and this is the kind of place he likes to see while traveling. It should be seen. It's been years since I was there, but I have to put a date in

Reasonably priced if you watch the movie and learn some history like we did. My younger kids got in for free and did the scavenger hunt. We visited the battlefield monument 4 miles away afterwards. Recommend visiting

The museum is mildly interesting and the store has many overpriced items. There is not much to see in the field itself, mainly just some grave markers. We didn't get into the native memorial, as there was a tour that filled the whole place and we didn't want to wait around. Cool place to see (given its history), but not worth paying for or going out of your way.

Had a lot of Souvenirs, and local art. You can get confused with the "Trading Posts" that they have though. They all most sound the same.

We visited the Little Big Horn battle field last year and learned a lot, but we were on a tight schedule, so couldn't see it all. Returned this year to complete the tour. You can drive through the fields and read the plaques, but it doesn't compare to the insight gained through the guided tour provided by the local native Americans. Well worth the extra money.

We have heard about the battle of the Little Big Horn for decades, but this excellent introduction into the details of the battle was well appreciated.

Not being able to walk a lot we take the driving tour. This is our 2nd trip here. It is a very moving experience. Don't rush thru this. Take you time to stop and read each area that is marked for a pull off. Each one gives you information about what happened there or nearby that you can see and try to imagine what was going on, on both sides. Very moving.

Loved the whole place. Great video to watch before venturing out to the battlefield and monuments. Educational, especially for the kids. Parking is a bit limited. We had to circle the lot twice to find a spot. Even though we were there during the week, it was crowded. Take your walking shoes if you're going to venture out. It would have received 5 stars except for the parking.

This museum is not part of the National Battlefield - it is a museum associated with a large souvenir store. It also is not worth the money to go into the museum. If you want the true Custer Battlefield experience go to the National Battlefield and enjoy the ranger lectures, the films and the wonderful auto tour. This place has for example a boat "like used by Lewis and Clark" - well folks there are lots of places you probably could see a boat "like used by Lewis and Clark." The person we experienced at the helm of the souvenir store was pushy and we felt the price of even a simple postcard was too high. Do your homework and be sure you are going to the true National Battlefield.

I travel with my service dog. The owner demanded a letter from my doctor (which I do carry), but I told him that he was violating Federal law, while I got my letter out. He demanded that I Ieave his museum. I did verify the ADA law afterwards. Avoid this very angry man and his business.
